More info shared by BioWare today:
  • The player will have six factions to choose from during character creation. The three confirmed so far are the Grey Wardens, the Antivan Crows (a guild of assassins) and the Shadow Dragons (an anti-slavery rebel organization from Tevinter).
  • Rook (the player character) is fully customizable, and can be human, elf, dwarf or qunari.
  • The Inquisitor, the player character from Dragon Age: Inquisition, will apparently appear in the game and the player will have the opportunity to customize their look before starting the game.
  • The player will also make a few key decisions during character creation that will change how the game starts (unclear if it's decisions from previous games or if it's referencing the choice of faction).
  • The baby griffon is called Assan.
List of companions and their description as per the press release:
  • Bellara, a creative and romantic Veil Jumper obsessed with uncovering ancient secrets.
  • Davrin, a bold and charming Grey Warden who has made a name for himself as a monster hunter.
  • Emmrich, a necromancer of Nevarra's Mourn Watch who comes complete with a skeletal assistant, Manfred.
  • Harding, the dwarven scout, returns to the fray as a companion with her big heart, a positive outlook, and a ready bow – as well as unexpected magical powers.
  • Lucanis, a poised & pragmatic assassin who descends from the bloodline of the House of Crows, a criminal organization renowned throughout Thedas.
  • Neve, a cynic fighting for a better future, both as a private detective and a member of Tevinter's rebellious Shadow Dragons.
  • Taash, a dragon hunter allied with the Lords of Fortune who lives for adventure and doesn't mind taking risks.

Will wait and see how this one plays.

I have never been a big fan of Dragon Age, and really don't think Bioware is anything other than a name these days given the creative turnover and turmoil there.

I got badly burned by buying Dragons Dogma 2 on release day, so I won't spend any money on this before the dust settles.

I'm still on the fence. I really enjoy the Dragon Age lore and universe and want to know how the story plays out. But the character design, the dialogue and the writing all look really poor - though it does look visually stunning.

I'm about 10 hours in and I've enjoyed it so far. I was pretty hesitant after reading some of the reviews but glad I've tried it myself after being a fan of Inquisition. Anyway we shall, see as it does feel like a massive game and I've struggled to finish games like this in recent years.
