So much better than the previous two games. The driving physics are more demanding without being twitchy. Tyre wear is much more realistic and makes race management a challenge.

There are some new options for race settings, such as turn off collisions for the first lap only. They seem to have aimed at making the game accessible without making it too arcadey.

Codemasters has released F1 23 update 1.14 (PS5 version 1.014), which is oddly enough, called patch version 1.13 by the devs. This brings a short list of fixes to the racing sim, with the full F1 23 patch notes detailed below.

• Fixed an issue where Equal Performance was not showing correct performance when enabled
• Fixed an issue where custom controller profiles were incorrectly reset*
  *Players who made a new controller scheme in the Patch 1.12 keep this one this Hotfix. Any previous scheme is unavailable.
  Players who didn't make a new controller scheme in Patch 1.12 and updates to Hotfix will have their old scheme present to use again."
