The studio has since confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI is now scheduled to launch on Thursday, 19 November 2026, saying the extra time will allow them to finish the game with the level of "polish" fans expect. They better not change it again.⁠

I wouldn't pay more than £60 for any game, including GTA 6

I reckon it will cost about $100, so what's that, £70/80 in the UK? If so, I don't think I'll buy it straight away. I'll look around for a price reduction, then buy it.

I think it will be full of bugs on release anyway, and it will probably be between 6 and 12 months before we see the "new and improved 60fps version" in a shameless cash grab by Rockstar.

As you scroll through the GTA 6 landing page, you'll notice a dynamic image that brings Vice City to life. It's a vibrant scene filled with vehicles soaring overhead, cars zipping along the freeway, and lively advertisements lighting up the streets. My memories from 13 years ago aren't all that clear, but the story mode was extremely underwhelming and just bombing around causing mayhem had become stale by that point. It was the early days of the online mode with friends that were the most enjoyable. Lost interest in that, too, by around 2018.

GTA 6 is now available to pre-order on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, ahead of its November 19th, 2026 release date, with players able to choose between a Standard Edition and a more expensive Ultimate Edition packed with exclusive vehicles, weapons, outfits, activities and locations across the state of Leonida.

It is a major moment for a game that has spent years at the centre of gaming conversation. And while there is still plenty Rockstar has yet to reveal, the first big purchasing decision is now here.

Two Editions, One Trip To Leonida

The Standard Edition (XBOX | PS) of Grand Theft Auto VI is priced at £69.99 and includes the full single-player story, following Jason and Lucia as an easy score goes spectacularly wrong.

Set across the sun-drenched state of Leonida, the pair are pulled into a criminal conspiracy that stretches far beyond Vice City itself. With the odds stacked against them, Jason and Lucia will have to rely on one another if they are going to make it out alive.

For players who want a little more from day one, the Ultimate Edition (XBOX | PS)is priced at £89.99. It includes the base game alongside a large collection of premium in-game extras threaded through Jason and Lucia's story.

What Is Included In The Ultimate Edition?
The Ultimate Edition Upgrade is also available separately for £20, allowing Standard Edition owners to upgrade later if they decide they want the extra content.

That upgrade includes a substantial selection of vehicles, weapons, cosmetic items and side activities, including the retro-inspired '95 Grotti Cheetah sports car, the Hawk & Little Morgan Revolver, personalised weapon variants for Jason and Lucia, and exclusive Vice City-inspired outfits and tattoos.

There is also a sizeable list of vehicles and locations to unlock. Players can expect Jason's Dinka Enduro motorcycle and Crest Kayak, an upgraded Vapid Ganado pickup, the Shitzu Squalo boat, a '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy and its own Paradise Garage hideout, plus access to the PTT Youngin$ Compound and a classic-car restoration commission.

The Ultimate Edition will also open the doors to several exclusive destinations around Leonida. Rideout Customs, Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305, Electric Fang Tattoo and One-Eyed Willie's will all offer additional ways to customise vehicles for Jason and Lucia throughout the game.

Rockstar has confirmed that the game will be primarily a "single-player experience." This news was shared in a note to IGN and is also reflected on various storefronts where the game is now available for preorder. This confirmation raises some interesting questions about the future of GTA Online, particularly since it appears that the base game, priced at $80, will not include any new version of GTA Online at launch.

While many fans speculate that Rockstar has plans for a new and improved GTA Online, the details of its release remain unclear. Will it be bundled with GTA 6 for free, or offered as a standalone product, possibly at an additional cost? For now, Rockstar seems to be focusing on the existing GTA Online experience.

Interestingly, those who preorder any edition of Grand Theft Auto VI will receive a free month of GTA+, which includes a variety of perks for GTA Online. According to Rockstar's press release, this includes a recurring monthly deposit of GTA$500,000 into players' accounts, access to special Shark Cards with a 15% bonus, and a rotating selection of classic Rockstar Games titles in the GTA+ Games Library.

In a previous discussion, Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick mentioned the strategy behind maintaining legacy titles, referencing the NBA 2K Online series. He highlighted that both versions of the game were kept alive to serve their audience, suggesting that there is a willingness to support existing titles as long as there is community engagement.
