Living in very close proximity to a school, the only school in Scotland I think, where a shooting tragedy occurred in 1996 resulting in the deaths of 16 children and one teacher and injured 15 others I'll never understand or accept the need for people in Britain have carry or own guns.
I am fairly happy with Canada's gun control regime. I would never own one myself but there are people here with legitimate cases for having them (subsistence hunters, farmers dealing with predators or vermin threatening their livelihood) so I am fine with long guns provided there's good regulation. Handguns, on the other hand, I see no legitimate use for in this country outside of official capacities like police so our current regime of very tightly restricting them also works fine for me.
I grew up around guns, learned proper handling techniques for them and managed to get a concealed carry permit. I inherited a rifle from my grandfather that my brother keeps in his safe at his house for me until I can get my own. I plan to eventually get a handgun and renew my concealed carry. Don't have a problem with em and think they're an invaluable home defense asset.
