The post provides personal sleep data and engages the community effectively, but it could benefit from more detail or context about the reasons for poor sleep and potential solutions.

"For most adults, 7–9 hours per night is the ideal amount".

When I'm working nights and sleeping during the day I get about 6 hours sleep (although I'll maybe catch a hour during the night at work if I feel I need it). When I'm on normal shifts I usually get the recommended amount.

I tend to aim for 6-8; but, lately there are times on my days off when I'm lucky to get that amount of sleep.

I would say that I average about 6-8 hours, though sometimes more or less..

My sleep pattern is a bit all over the place at the minute due to my circumstances at home.

During the week I only have time to get 6 hours per night due to work but I make up for it at the weekends with maybe a 10-hour sleep on Friday and Saturday.

I get a little more than you Gemma Gemma but I can only enjoy my days if I get a maximum of 6 hours of sleep. If I sleep more than that I actually wake up groggy and even tired. If I lie-in over 6+hrs sleep, I wake up feeling like I need more sleep and not ready to tackle my day ahead.

I used to need 8 hours minimum a night, I could also nap in the afternoon for an hour or so on a non-work day.

Now with a 7 month old who wakes 4+ times a night, I wake up refreshed in the middle of the night if he sleeps more than 4 hours straight. So basically I've trained my body to survive on 4 or 5 hours.

This. My youngest can be up for several hours a night meaning only a few hours sleep for me too.

My sleep has been off again lately, generally only getting about 4 hours a night no matter how active I've been during the day.
