Lies of P
Inspired by the familiar story of Pinocchio, Lies of P is an action souls-like set in a dark Belle Époque world. As the puppet P, players must wind their way through the streets of the ruined city of Krat, crafting weapons from the materials found in the world and interacting with the remaining few who manage to survive in this hellscape. The more lies told, the more human players become, with all the advantages and disadvantages it entails. Experience profound narrative choices and deeply customizable character progression as you guide P on his unrelenting journey to become human.

Features:

- The Essence of Battle: Wield and master various weapons with unique combinations of Fable Arts and Legion Arms to find out what fits your playstyle.

- Variety of Attractions: Enjoy the beautiful, yet dark atmosphere of the Belle Époque era and explore the once prosperous city of Krat.

- Lie System: P is made of a puppet's heart, but he learns how to think and feel like a human by lying.

- Legacy of the Classics: The city of Krat, the characters, and even the smallest objects reflect our deepest admiration for the original tale of Pinocchio.

The post expresses interest but lacks depth and engagement with the topic. It could be improved by including specific reasons for the lack of interest in souls-like games.

Looks interesting but I'm not a huge fan of souls-like games.

I've played a few hours on game pass and have to say I'm very impressed. It's the closet thing to Bloodborne I've played, and unlike most souls-like imitations, this one actually holds its own.

Reviews have said it's too easy, but I've found myself dying fairly often from the first boss onwards.

It was fantastic until I got stuck on a mini boss. Now I hate it.

Just kidding, it's everything you want from this type of game, tough, rewarding, and humbling all in the same hour or so.

Fair play to them for making the most FromSoftware game possible by not FromSoftware. Sometimes when playing games like this on Game Pass I feel bad that I didn't buy it straight up as this is well worth full price.

I came up against my first roadblock of a boss, the Scrapped Watchman. Took a good few tries (maybe 15-20) but eventually got him. Just took a while to get the rhythm of his attacks down to be able to block/avoid.

I am full on stuck on a mini-boss, been 2 days now :(

Stuck for over an hour on the main boss of the swamp area. I'm getting the first part down, but the second part, he's like me on the dancefloor..... No rhythm. Will have to come back to him tomorrow.

Started playing a few days ago and loving it - finally a game that scratches the Bloodborne itch! Looks, sounds and plays brilliant - the combat is so good. Got access to boss weapons but for the minute I'm still mostly using my upgraded puppet saber blade with fire axe handle. Currently making my way through Malum district I think it's called - I don't trust those two npcs at the start who offer to help out.

This is very good, the best Souls clone out there.

The upcoming update is generating buzz among fans, particularly with the introduction of new difficulty options. Scheduled for release alongside the Overture DLC, these adjustments aim to make the game more accessible for a wider audience, especially newcomers to the Soulslike genre.

Game director Jiwon Choi has emphasised the importance of player feedback in this decision, stating, "We wanted to make sure a wider audience of players could play the game." The default difficulty will be known as "Legendary Stalker," supplemented by two easier modes titled "Butterfly's Guidance" and "Awakened Puppet." For those seeking an even greater challenge, the game will also feature a Battle Memories mode, allowing players to tackle bosses at varying difficulty tiers, including ultra-hard settings.

Additionally, the new Death March boss rush mode will test players' skills with limited health and items, promising unique rewards yet to be revealed. The Overture DLC, a prequel that dives into the final days of the city of Krat, will introduce new weapons such as slashing claws and a gunblade, further enriching the gameplay experience.

The release of Overture is anticipated this summer, and with the incorporation of difficulty options, it stands as a significant development in the ongoing conversation about accessibility in gaming, especially within the notoriously challenging Soulslike genre. While debates around difficulty settings continue, this move may set a precedent for future titles.

Here's a summary of what we know about the upcoming update:
  • Lies of P will add difficulty options in a free update with the Overture DLC.
  • Default difficulty: "Legendary Stalker"; easier modes: "Butterfly's Guidance" and "Awakened Puppet."
  • New Battle Memories and Death March modes will offer varied challenges and rewards.
  • Overture DLC will explore the backstory of the city of Krat and introduce new weapons.
  • This update highlights the growing trend towards accessibility in gaming.
