Mafia: The Old Country
Uncover the origins of organised crime in Mafia: The Old Country, a gritty mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily. Fight to survive as Enzo Favara and prove your worth to the Cosa Nostra in this immersive third-person action-adventure set during a dangerous, unforgiving era.

Enzo will do anything for a better life. After a brutal childhood of forced labour, he's ready to risk everything to become a man of honour in the Torrisi crime family.

His oath to the Cosa Nostra, with all the power, temptation, and hardship it entails, is a burning reminder of this simple truth:

Family Takes Sacrifice.

This thrilling narrative is brought to life by stunning visuals, cinematic storytelling, and the authentic realism that the critically acclaimed Mafia series is known for. Enzo's story unfolds in a time when skill with a stiletto blade was a deadly asset, a lupara sawed-off shotgun was a go-to firearm, murderous vendettas raged for decades, and mafiosi patrolled their protection rackets on foot, horseback, or behind the wheel of turn-of-the-century motorcars.

Probably a day one buy for me.

The game looks like a strong return to form after the sloppy design of Mafia 3. I think it was the right call to go linear, it plays into the series' strengths and differentiates it from GTA.

The recent announcement from Hangar 13 regarding the PC specifications for Mafia: The Old Country has sparked interest among gamers. The requirements are notably balanced, catering to various hardware capabilities while ensuring an engaging gameplay experience.

The minimum requirements include an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X or Intel Core i7-9700K, alongside 16 GB of RAM and a GPU such as the AMD Radeon 5700 XT or Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070, equipped with 8 GB of VRAM. This setup allows players to enjoy the game at HD resolution on medium settings.

For those looking for a more robust experience, the recommended specifications suggest an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X or Intel Core i7-12700K, with 32 GB of RAM and a GPU like the AMD Radeon RX 6950 XT or Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, both featuring 12 GB of VRAM. This will enable gameplay at 2K resolution on high settings.

Finally, the epic preset demands high-end systems, specifying an AMD Ryzen 9700X or Intel Core i7-14700K, 32 GB of RAM, and GPUs such as the AMD Radeon RX 9070 or Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, also with 12 GB of VRAM. This configuration supports 4K gameplay at reduced resolution for optimal performance.

Noteworthy features planned for the PC version include uncapped frame rates, support for FSR, DLSS, and XeSS, as well as accessibility options and ultrawide monitor support. Utilising Unreal Engine 5, Hangar 13 aims to deliver a visually stunning and mechanically immersive experience, focusing on the gameplay rather than the engine itself.

Just finished this tonight. I enjoyed it. It is short and the fighting can be quite repetitive after a few chapters, but it was fun. Played out like an interactive movie.

The developers have announced that a new Free Ride mode is set to be introduced in an upcoming update. This addition promises to enhance the gaming experience in Sicily, allowing players to explore the beautiful landscapes and vibrant environments at their own pace.

The Free Ride mode is anticipated to give players greater freedom, letting them immerse themselves in the game's rich setting without the constraints of missions or objectives. This could be a great opportunity for players to enjoy the atmosphere, engage with NPCs, or simply take in the sights and sounds of the game world.

For those who have been enjoying their time in Sicily, this update should make your experience even more enjoyable.

I like the Mafia games so will pick this up at some point. The reviews seem a little mixed.

Do any of the characters tie in to the original trilogy?

Credits just rolled on Mafia, ~12 hours. Solid, enjoyable experience, if not fairly predictable. But it was executed pretty well. The biggest impression is the work done on facial animation, with the eye use being the highlight. Extremely well done, if not always perfect, but really added to the immersion. It's most definitely a movie with some gameplay between, I spent just as much time watching what was happening as playing.

The gunplay is grand, nothing spectacular, but fitting for the period. You can try and collect all weapons, but I didn't see a need, unlocked 2 of the best through just playing the game and stuck with them. But only about 25% of the game is shooting. About another 25% at sneaking, and the rest is cutscenes or moving conversations, I'd say! But interesting enough that I sometimes walked instead of running to the next bit, to keep immersion and to hear the NPC comments.

No interest in cleaning up and collecting the collectables (newspaper articles). In fact, there isn't an endgame, but you can reload chapters. It's a one and done game, but one that felt like it was made to include all the usual open-world time-wasting, but it was all cut at the last minute.
