All the big announcements from the Nintendo Direct June 2024 - games coming to the Switch console this year and well into 2025.

Mario and Luigi: Brothership
Kicking off the Nintendo Direct was Mario and Luigi: Brothership. Out on November 7, the game stars everyone's favorite plumbers on a new island-hopping adventure.

Fairy Tail 2
Based on Hiro Mashima's popular Fairy Tail manga, Fairy Tail 2 adapts the final arc of the series as Natsu and his friends take on powerful forces in this action-RPG from Koei Tecmo and Gust.



Fantasian Neo Dimension
Ported over from Apple Arcade, Fantasian is on its way to Switch and other platforms soon. With development led by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and composer Nobuo Uematsu, Fantasian Neo Dimension contains English and Japanese voiceovers, an additional difficulty option, and a fun turn-based battle system full of unique gameplay mechanics. Visually, the game looks pretty great as it's set against the backdrop of over 150 handcrafted dioramas.



Donkey Kong Country Returns HD
The king of Kong is back! First released on the Nintendo Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD includes all the original levels from that game and the extra levels from the Nintendo 3DS version. It'll land on Switch on January 16.



MIO: Memories in Orbit
A 2D action-RPG, MIO: Memories in Orbit will release in 2025 on Nintendo Switch. You'll play as the android MIO, an explorer stuck on a gigantic spaceship drifting in space and populated by machines gone rogue.

Dragon Quest HD-2D Remakes
A trilogy of Dragon Quest games are getting the HD-2D treatment, and you won't have to wait too long to play these classic RPGs. Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD Remake will arrive in 2025, while Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake will be available starting November 14.



Metal Slug Attack Reloaded
Available right now, Metal Slug Attack Reloaded reimagines the classic run-and-gun adventure as a tower-defense game. The detailed 2D pixel art has been retained, but you'll need to come up with new strategies if you hope to survive against the forces assembled against you.



Marvel vs. Capcom: Fighting Collection
Arcade and fighting game fans are in for a treat, as several of Capcom's excellent Marvel games are getting a new release. The new collection includes X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes, and The Punisher.



The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
At long last, your mom is right, because Nintendo just announced a Legend of Zelda game where you get to play as the iconic princess. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launches September 26 on Switch, and is a brand-new story set in the kingdom of Hyrule.



Super Mario Party Jamboree
Billed as the biggest Mario Party game yet, Super Mario Party Jamboree will be available starting October 17 for Switch. There'll be more than 110 minigames, a collection of returning and new game boards, and you can join up to 20 players for some online competition in Koopathlon mode.

Nintendo Switch Sports
Get ready for a date on the court in Nintendo Switch Sports, as basketball is being added to the fitness game as part of a free update. Modes include 2v2 local and online matches, three-point challenge, and a five-street battle mode.



Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
At long last, Metroid Prime 4 resurfaced during the Nintendo Direct with a brief but attention-grabbing trailer. Now going under the title of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Nintendo is currently planning to launch the first-person shooter in 2025.



Ninendo Switch Online adds more GBA and N64 games
In a quick sizzle reel, Nintendo showed off the next wave of games for its Nintendo Switch Online subscription service. These will be available today, and include The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords, Metroid: Zero Mission, Turok Dinosaur Hunter, and the first Perfect Dark game.



Hello Kitty Island Adventure
In case you can't get enough of cozy island getaways, you can look forward to a new one starring the lovable scamps from the Hello Kitty franchise next year. Hello Kitty Island Adventure stars the mega-popular Sanrio mascot and her pals as they learn to cook delicious dishes, solve ancient puzzles, and decorate cabins on their little slice of tropical paradise.



Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports
Ready for some tennis, soccer, golf, and basketball with a Looney Tunes twist? Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports features several of the biggest names from the Merry Melodies gang as they compete against each other on the sports field. Just make certain that you watch out for falling anvils in this game when it arrives later in the year.



Farmagia
Coming to Nintendo Switch on November 1, Farmagia will see you command a monster army as you venture through the dangerous lands of Felicidad.



Funko Fusion
Funko Pops are everywhere, and now the dead-eyed little collectibles are preparing to invade your Switch on September 13. This game features Funko-fied characters from TV, film, comics, and games, and there'll be over 60 of them to collect as you solve puzzles, explore new worlds, and relive some of the greatest moments from pop culture.

The New Denpa Men
Imagine Pokemon meets Animal Crossing--but weird--and you'll have a good idea of what to expect from The New Denpa Men. The strange little dudes have a new adventure ahead of them, and the game launches as a free-to-play timed exclusive for Switch on July 22.



Darkest Dungeon 2
Darkest Dungeon 2 is coming to the Switch on July 15, and in case you missed the previous trailers for it, this sequel to the popular RPG is adding rogue-lite elements to its gameplay as you embark on a hellish road trip across nightmarish locations.



Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero
On a journey to save her friend, Ash, Marona will have to use all of her powers to save the day in this cute RPG. Thanks to her ability to "confine" phantoms, Marona can bind them to objects on the map for unique advantages, merge them with gadgets, and unleash "Confriend" attacks as a last resort. Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero will be coming to Switch in 2025.



Disney Illusion Island: Mystery in Monoth
Mystery in Monoth is a new update coming to the delightful Disney Illusion Island today. Mickey and friends will locate clues, close cases, and solve a brand-new detective mystery in this new and free add-on.



Lego Horizon Adventures
In case you missed it, there was a new trailer for Lego Horizon Adventures to check out during the Nintendo Direct. Still scheduled to launch later this year, the game puts a Lego spin on the PlayStation Horizon series as Aloy sets off on a new quest to save the world in this cheerful game.



Stray
If you missed out on Stray because you don't have a PlayStation, Xbox, or a PC that can run it, worry not! The cute game starring a little kitty in a big city will be available on Switch later this year. As a stray cat who has become separated from their colony, you'll have to guide this curious feline to safety and home while dodging the dangers of a long-forgotten city full of intrigue.

Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game
We've all dreamed of the Hobbit lifestyle, and in Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game, you'll get to live that Middle-earth fantasy as you decorate your burrow, tend to your garden, and eat far too many breakfasts.



Just Dance 2025
One of the best gaming guilty pleasures, a new entry in Ubisoft's Just Dance series will be out in October. Just Dance 2025 has over 40 new songs for you to groove to, including tracks from big names like Ariana Grande, Sia, and Green Day.



Ace Attorney Investigations Collection
Two remastered Ace Attorney titles featuring prolific prosecutor Miles Edgeworth, coming to Switch on September 6? No objections here, as Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth and Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor's Gambit has a few mind-bending mysteries, legal battles, and Eureka moments to experience.



The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy
Out next year, The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is a new game from the creators of the Danganronpa series. As Takumi Sumino, you'll have to survive 100 days of grueling battles against nightmarish creatures, uncover the truth of the Last Defense Academy, and bond with his companions.



Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven
In its first full remake, Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven marks the grand return of a beloved RPG series. This remake will feature English voiceovers, original and rearranged compositions by series composer Kenji Ito, and massive strategic battles when it launches on October 24.

I do have to give Nintendo credit: in an age where many game trailers are pre-rendered or 'in engine' cinematics, Nintendo shows off its biggest upcoming games clearly running on actual Switch level hardware even if it isn't as flattering as the likely next-gen versions will be. No doubt that Metroid Prime 4 will look very close to that running on a standard Switch, even if it's likely going to have a significant resolution upgrade for the successor console.
