While I am a republican as well, I'd wait until I see what replaces it before I celebrate. After the farce South of me, I am now suspicious of elected executive branches. Perhaps a ceremonial president like Israel and Germany, but that still leaves the problem of how to choose them in a way that best represents the nation. Election by Parliament strikes me as just opening the door to political BS. In some way, a hereditary monarch with limited powers may actually be the lesser evil. I just wish we Canadians had our own instead of borrowing someone else's.I'll celebrate when they abolish the monarchy.
