Sky has launched a range of three TV sets with their new streaming service, Sky Stream, built in, along with UHD, HDR, and Dolby Atmos support. They're also letting customers in the U.K. pay for them via an interest-free loan. The steaming service won't be available standalone yet. They do have a (U.K.) DTT tuner built-in apparently and 3 HDMI ports.

Sky Glass, the streaming TV from Sky - key features:
  • The only TV with Sky and all your favourite apps inside
  • Buy your TV like you buy your mobile phone with flexible payments
  • Cutting-edge design available in five colours and three sizes
  • Ultra HD and Quantum Dot technology producing over 1 billion colours
  • 360° Dolby Atmos® sound with powerful built-in speakers and sub-woofer
  • Talk to your TV: just say "Hello Sky" to find what to watch
  • The world's first TV to be certified as a CarbonNeutral® product

Not really for me but had a look online at it anyway. Doesn't say if you'll be able to record programmes. I get that you can stream most stuff later but that's relying on providers making stuff available. Also after 12 months, they will charge you £5 for the ability to fast forward adverts. That's a bit cheeky if you ask me!

Oh, and to get the same package I've got with Sky Q it would cost £54 per month (I currently pay £44) and that's without the cost of the TV (£17 a month for the smallest set over 4 years).

It is a solid no from me

I was going to give this a go but it just looks like an attempt to extract the maximum amount of money from subscribers.

I have a heavily discounted deal which would be torn up if I want to go down this route

Not for me, I'm afraid

Silly idea these days integrating services into a TV. As we've seen with other manufacturers, the software and smart services quickly becomes obsolete and abandoned. Best just to get the best TV available, and attach replaceable smart components to it (I.e. Sky/BT/Roku/etc boxes).

Full list of channels available in the U.K. Note that Premier Sports and most standalone FTA channels that are not owned by BBC/ITV/C4/C5 aren't available.

Also it appears the Playlist feature, which is replacing recording, is wrecking peoples heads, it basically sends you to the player app that houses the content - if there is one.
