They had to activate "economic levers" including selling 25% of their La Liga TV rights for the next 25 years to a US firm, selling 25% of their Barca Studios commercial business and they've also asked senior players including Piqué and Busquets to take pay cuts.

They are a shambles and will probably need to sell more than just De Jong in the coming days/weeks.

I used to absolutely love Barcelona and all they stood for. They're now probably the least likeable elite club in Europe. There will be a lot of schadenfreude if they fail in the Champions League this year.

Apparently, they've decided against pursuing Arnautovic after complaints from fans.

They are preparing a move for £35m-rated PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo

United boss Erik ten Hag, who shares the same agency as Gakpo, is keen on signing the 23-year-old to boost his attack.

Chelsea are ready to sign Frenkie De Jong and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang if Barcelona allow both players to leave this month.

Barcelona want De Jong to stay, but only if he agrees to take a significant pay cut and accept a £6m settlement for his deferred wages. Chelsea are willing to match Man Utd's £72m offer and unlike United, they can offer De Jong Champions League football.

Aubameyang moved to Barcelona on a free transfer from Arsenal in January. He has three years left on his contract.

Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks over the signing of Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis

Forest have made a £20m bid for Dennis, who signed from Club Brugge last summer for £3.5m.
