Former President Donald Trump has officially announced he is running for president in 2024, marking his third bid for the White House.

Saying "We are a nation in decline" and "America's comeback starts right now," Trump made the announcement Tuesday night in an address from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

The announcement, which Trump had been hinting at for months, comes as the embattled former president faces multiple criminal and civil investigations and as his party is grappling with a worse-than-expected showing in the midterm elections, raising questions about the former president's power over the GOP.

Former President Donald Trump is to be indicted in connection to alleged hush money payments made via his lawyer to former adult film star Stormy Daniels.

The issue has been brewing since allegations the two had an affair came to light before the 2016 election. The former president denies he had sexual relations with Daniels.

But they will almost certainly revolve around the payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels to keep her from talking about an alleged affair with Trump in the days before the 2016 presidential election.

I'd like to say no, but I thought he would be trounced the first time he was elected. It seems no matter what awful things he says or does, his supporters either defend him or don't believe it. Even when they see and hear it with their own eyes and ears. Worse still, many see his words and actions as a good thing.

Still baffles me how Americans are so quick to ignore any illegal activities from their politicians just because they were the colour shirt they support.

Most Republicans will vote for him only because of party, but the stench of his past and his crimes will be a major turn-off to independents (a.k.a. those that any candidate must win over in a presidential election).

There are a lot of silent supporters. Those people typically only care about being Republican because that's the party that keeps wealthy people wealthier, and that's all there is to it. They put up with idiocy because with him in charge, they'll be richer. And there are tens of millions of those people in the USA.
