The last two seasons were bang average, hope this is a return to form.

Hope so too. Seasons 1-3 were fantastic.

Sadly, Inaros just isn't that interesting as a villain, even after getting to know him. Dawes would've been the much better villain because of how charismatic Jared Harris is.

Seasons 4 and 5 were quite poor (season 4 was just pointless, and half of season 5 was just bad drama with bad actors set in space). Hope it picks up in season 6 too.

Has anyone managed to get their hands on the final book?

Great opening episode, if a little tempered by that feeling the 6 episode total means it'll all be in a bit of a hurry.

The angst over Alex's death also chaffed, only cos I know it wasn't from the books - or a creative decision by the TV producers either. The drama just didn't feel earned because we know it was enforced by the actor being gross.

Just finished the final episode.

I would go as far as saying this is one of the best sci-fi shows ever and also an example of a very faithful adaptation. Changes were made of course, but they stayed within reason and often were superbly received, Ashford for example is an entirely different character in the books, but there is nothing about the TV change to him I disliked, he still feels like an Expanse character. Drummer another one, combined a few characters into her role probably because of time constraints but it works.

To be fair to other adaptations The Expanse has shallower characters than your standard fantasy/sci-fi books, it is more driven by plot, action and politics than the chapter-long internal monologues that are a staple of other series. Much easier for a visual medium to adapt.

Going to miss this show, rarely get a sci-fi show that is this good.

Just finished it and I was happy with it.

Sure I think there are some things that they could have left out in the season to give a more well-rounded "final season" in whole. But, I think overall they did an amazing job. Considering the show could have ended very early seasons ago with the ending on cable. Being given a second chance on Amazon Prime with a far bigger budget I appreciate that. We got more from some of these great characters, and I can't be upset at that.

Given that there is more that can be explored from the novels, maybe there is still hope for someone else to pick up the mantle. All these streaming services looking for content this is a great one to get more out of that hasn't been done before.

Keep watching the credits until the end. The ring glows red and the Laconian ship looks like it's there. I don't know why they would bother with that if there aren't some plans to do the final three books, in some form.

I started re-watching Season 4. Maybe my favourite.

Season 4 is probably my favourite, but I started watching Season 1 again. I'd forgotten how good it really is. Ep 8 where they're in the hotel lobby waiting to find out which room Lionel Polanski is in. It slowly filling up with people and Amos being the only one aware of what is about to happen. Plus the funky lobby muzak playing in the background. The sound of him pulling down the zipper in his jacket to get to his gun. A really good set piece.

The Expanse was a great show for the first 3 1/2 to 4 seasons.

They were right to end it when they did.
