Rather than posting rumours in the news thread or bogging down the gaming forum with baseless speculation, I thought we should have a separate thread for this kind of stuff. It also means that those who couldn't give a crap about the rumour mill can easily ignore it by staying clear of the thread.

So, post your rumours about games, studios etc here. Please include a source so we know you're not just making up **** yourself for the lols 👾

Following on from the Insomniac hack, there's a huge amount of info on Wolverine and other upcoming projects now out in the wild. I'm not going to link to it as the OG hackers are scummy blackmailers.

But there's a huge amount of info for the curious, including full cast and characters, locations, test footage and animations, outline of opening scenes, concept art, gameplay mechanics, and targeted release date. On the flipside, that's obviously a huge amount of potential spoilers, so tread carefully.

There was also a slide from July showing a hypothetical timeline of future Insomniac releases which include:

Venom game, Spiderman 3, X-Men game, and a new Ratchet and Clank.

Artwork for an unannounced Escape From New York game has surfaced online. I think this will likely go nowhere. But it's a universe that could work well in a big game setting, I think.

Resident Evil 9 to be announced soon with a 2025 release date. Dusk Golem is the most reliable Resi leaker so I have faith in this. Very interesting that 8 was a spin-off game at one point and that 9 has had the longest dev cycle of all the games.

I wonder if they'll keep going with first-person for RE9, and keep a likely RE5 Remake for third person (and maybe follow it up with Code Veronica or something).

It's been several months since Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard was finalized, and even though the latter's catalog of titles has started making its way over to Game Pass with Diablo 4 kicking things off in March, there hasn't been any real clarity on whether Call of Duty in particular is going to follow suit. Now, however, it's being reported that concrete details on that front will be officially shared soon.

Wall Street Journal has claimed in a recently published report that this year's Call of Duty game will be available via Game Pass at launch. As per the report, though the company is of course expecting a hit to the title's sales, it is also hoping to see a bump in subscriber numbers for the service, driven by Call of Duty.

The report goes on to claim that Microsoft will officially confirm the game's Game Pass release at its Xbox Games Showcase in June. Previously, it was alleged in reports that the company was also potentially planning on putting back catalog Call of Duty titles on Game Pass as well. Read more on that through here.

Earlier this month, Xbox president Sarah Bond reiterated that all first-party Microsoft games will see day one Game Pass releases, including Activision titles, though she didn't explicitly mention Call of Duty. Interestingly, recent leaks have also claimed that Microsoft is planning on introducing new tier and a price hike for Game Pass.

As per previous leaks, this year's Call of Duty title will be titled Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War. Its single player campaign, developed by Raven Software, will allegedly be fully open world. The game will launch in October, it's been claimed.

Seems like Resident Evil 9 won't be the next Capcom game....

The next game coming from Capcom in the Resident Evil franchise won't be Resident Evil 9. Instead, the studio is working on remakes of Resident Evil Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero.

According to notable leaker Dusk Golem, both titles have been in development and will be the next games to release.

"I've talked to many others behind the scenes about this at this point, it's something I heard over a year ago, think it was going to get out whether I was the one to say it or not, & that's about it," they said.

Released originally for the Sega Dreamcast in 2000, Code Veronica was the first game in the series to release on a different platform before coming to PlayStation. Zero also released on a different platform first, launching in 2002 for the Nintendo GameCube as an exclusive. It eventually made it's way to Xbox, PlayStation, and PC in 2016.
