Except they kept changing the damn story every time we thought they had it resolved. That's the kind of thing that makes fans want to walk into the writers' room with a clue-by-four. After a while, I stopped giving a damn about his sister because it was clear she was just a plot device with no real purpose other than to keep the story going.

Yeah, like I said, the plot (and what happened to his sister) isn't really important or appealing; the characterization of Mulder and what the kidnapping does to him is.
