I have just finished Sue Townsend's The Woman Who Went To Bed For A Year ........ a laugh-a-page and one of the funniest books that I've read. Highly recommended

"The Island That Dared" by Dervla Murphy.

Her travels in Cuba when she was in her 70s. Clearly a fan of the "revolution". Very entertaining book so far though her biases shine through.

Black Sheep Collaborator
Power and Thrones: A New History of the Middle Ages by Dan Jones.

Of course I would choose a fairly sizable book to read during a very busy period at work. But I finally got through it and got to say I really enjoyed reading about the Black Death, definitely the standout chapter to me. I've never thought of reading on the topic before but I am feeling inspired to do so, think I'll need to source some further reading on this.

I really enjoyed that. I'm on a similar bid to cover a massive topic in a relatively confined space:

The Greeks: A Global History by Roderick Beaton

I like Dan Jones, he manages to cover some very tangled material in a gripping way and has an eye for illuminating detail

Fool Me Once by Harlan Coben.

Such a good book.

Just read Anthony Doerr's "All The Light We Cannot See". Really enjoyed it.

Duffy & Son is up next.

I've been reading 'Blood Orange' by Harriet Tyce on my Kindle. It is exceptionally good and I've still got 50 odd pages to go.

I adored Blood Orange but it's the author's peak. I wouldn't recommend her subsequent novels, which is a real shame. The 2nd is ok, the 3rd "It Ends at Midnight" is not great at all.

Finished I See You by Clare Mackintosh, easy 5 stars, thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm getting through the books on my kindle by reading the ones that have been on there the longest first.
