Has anyone read Acts of Service? (Lillian Fishman)

I feel like I've read quite a few similar books in the last few years but can't quite describe the genre? I'm getting Luster vibes? But I'm only a few chapters in
I'm sure I've seen Luster lumped into the sad, angry, toxic girl trope on BookTok. Similar to A Certain Hunger, A Year of Rest and Relaxation and so on.

(Couldn't finish Luster as much as I wanted to like it.)

Black Sheep Collaborator
Reading Trainspotting for the first time in about 20 years. I've remembered all the really sick bits (the shit that goes through Irvine Welsh's mind…), but I'd forgotten how funny it is, or maybe now I'm older I just appreciate that aspect of it more.

Just finished On Beauty by Zadie Smith and really enjoyed it. It's a brisk read, funny and also very well observed characters. At the beginning I did think it had more interesting things to say about race than it turned out to but was a good holiday read. Just about to reread White Noise now...I remember enjoying it the first time but racing through it too quickly, so going to slow down to try to take it in a little more this time around.

Web of Lies by Aoife Gallagher. The origins of and reasons why people believe conspiracy theories.

Black Sheep Collaborator
Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak.

Really enjoyed this. The big twist was perhaps a bit far-fetched but was pretty well done overall.

Just finished Time After Time by Ben Elton, a time travelling story. The premise was ok but the characters actions lacked credibility in places and the plot could have been better executed.

I really enjoyed reading "The Satsuma Complex" by Bob Mortimer.

It was fast paced, easy to read, humorous, quirky (well the main character holds conversations with squirrels) with likable, all be it cardboard cut-out characters (though I suspect that may have been intentional), and was overall very entertaining.

Just finished Maggie O'Farrell's Hamnet. Probably the last person on the planet to read it. Really enjoyed it.

I am currently reading Fairy Tale by Stephen King...I am about 20 percent through it is enjoyable enough but a bit slow so far...

Black Sheep Collaborator
Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari is brill. Can't recommend it enough if you are interested in the history of us humans and human kind.

Packed with interesting stuff and a good read too.
