Tiger Woods has been taken to hospital after being injured in a car crash in Los Angeles, police have said.

The golf star had to be cut out of the vehicle by firefighters and paramedics following the accident on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes on Tuesday morning.

LA County Sheriff's Department said: "The driver and sole occupant was identified as PGA golfer, Eldrick 'Tiger' Woods.

"Mr Woods was extricated from the wreck with the 'jaws of life' by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics, then transported to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries."

Now reports that he is in surgery.

He honestly looked and sounded high in his interview on Sunday night. Wouldn't surprise me if he's either been drink driving or under the influence of medication as it was a single-car accident

Doctor has said a rod has been fitted to his right tibea and pins in other parts of his leg and ankle after suffering multiple leg fractures.

Apparently, Tiger was on his way to meet NFL quarterbacks Drew Brees and Justin Herbert for a playing lesson, and running late at the time of the crash. He'd filmed a lesson with Dwyane Wade and David Spade the day before.

Phenomenal golfer. That chip in on 16 at The Masters a few years back that took an age to drop was one of the best golf shots I've ever seen. In fact, here it is.



However, there's something a little sad about Tiger Woods' story in spite of all of the success, fame and fortune. Hopefully, he can walk again and return to some kind of full health.
