Is anybody else looking forward to the release of the Pentagon Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon report (new term for UFOs)?

This has been driven by the leak of those US navy/air force videos from 2017 from within the government which forced the senate to order the report. Seems like finally after years of denial we will at least get "there are things out there we have evidence of and can't explain but they aren't of this world".

This would be a great step forward in my opinion hopefully bringing a collective effort across governments to start studying the evidence and data of these events more seriously so we can try to learn a bit more about it all.

No. It'll be watered down, non-committal shit.

Or it'll be something that is actually explainable and not extra terrestrial.

It's absolutely obvious there are other things out there. What they are is another question? But happy to see it's slowly coming out which most of us knew anyway. Unless you believe we are alone in the universe which is ridiculous.

Not being alone in the universe is easy to believe.

Being able to believe traversing space to find and interact with other life is the problematic bit. How common within a galaxy is it for a species to leave the atmosphere of their planet? How common is intelligent life in a galaxy?

It's probably easier to believe UFO's are some inter dimensional thing, maybe phasing in from an alternative Earth than life from a different part of our own galaxy.

I absolutely believe there is some other intelligent life out there. Whether within our galaxy or beyond, I think the probability is that there is another planet, similar to ours which at the very least has water / land animals roaming. Whether there is anything more technologically advanced than us, I'm not sure but there is almost certainly other life out there.

I'm interested to read it when published.

I reckon that these orb/tic tac things are a natural phenomenon. Maybe some biological entity that has always been on Earth living amongst us.

The "UFOs" like those seen in Phoenix are most likely military.

Can you imagine if there was a 5 minute HD clip showing some mad looking craft where you could clearly see a little green man inside, what would happen? Society would implode!

I think there is probably life, and a good chance of other intelligent life, outside our solar system.

I do not think Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (I actually like that term better than Unidentified Flying Object but old habits will die hard) are it.

Barring us finally finding a loophole in Special Relativity, even if they are "aliens", they would have be to from fairly nearby or even "local", eg. living on a generation ship in the Oort Cloud or something.

What could UAPs be? Misidentifed human activity or atmospheric phenomena. Deliberate activity by humans (e.g. secret technology tests) using the UAP/UFO label as cover.

As for the abduction and alien encounter stories, I read a book years ago that suggested a strong resemblence between them and folktales and myths about encounters with fairies, etc. So perhaps a psychological phenomenon combined with some hoaxes or cult activity, but reinterpreted for the modern era as "aliens" rather than supernatural beings.

So the classified annex of the report has been seen by some military officials who have leaked conclusions to the New York Times.

The report states that while the government have no evidence that what is observed are from another planet they have no evidence for what they are. They do know that they are not secret US technology nor are they likely from foreign governments.

The report confirms that the collective behaviour observed doesn't fit with what we know about traditional aircraft nor can weather balloons explain all of these cases.

The last report on UFOs the US released was Project Bluebook. It basically stated that these were misidentifications. This report states there's objects flying in the sky that can't be explained by weather balloons, foreign adversaries or secret US technology. The report states there's objects exhibiting unexplainable acceleration, speed, maneuverability and ability to submerge under water flying around US airspace.

U.S. Finds No Evidence of Alien Technology in Flying Objects, but Can't Rule It Out, Either

The report concedes that much about the observed phenomena remains difficult to explain, including their acceleration, as well as ability to change direction and submerge. One possible explanation — that the phenomena could be weather balloons or other research balloons — does not hold up in all cases, the officials said, because of changes in wind speed at the times of some of the interactions.

The Pentagon's UFO/UAP Report to Congress is now available

Interesting quote from the report: "Most of the UAP reported probably do represent physical objects given that a majority of UAP were registered across multiple sensors, to include radar, infrared, electro-optical, weapon seekers, and visual observation."

Rules out optical illusions, tricks of the light, swamp gas etc.

Considering the mind boggling scale of the universe, the incredible amounts of stars and other star systems being much much older than ours its entirely possible these things are not from this planet.

I understand people being sceptical, but we ourselves have sent crafts to other planets and we have only been doing it for less than 100 years. Arrogance on this planet shouldn't extend to the universe, for things we don't understand
