Weren't able to catch January 2026's Xbox Developer Direct showcase earlier today? No worries! You can always go back and watch everything that was revealed during the Xbox Developer Direct 2026 showcase below.

Playground Games has given us our first proper look at Forza Horizon 6 - and what a first look it's turned out to be.

Forza Horizon 6 takes us to a new destination for the series – the beautiful mountains and urban spaces of Japan. It's the team's most impressive destination yet – breathtaking mountain vistas and passes, neon-soaked city plazas and brooding dockland strips – masterfully designed. However, the goal wasn't to accurately recreate Japan's roads and spaces mile for mile, but to capture the essence of the place in a smoother, condensed reality.

Condensed it may be, but this is still the largest Forza Horizon map ever, and the team says that Tokyo alone is 5x bigger than any previous city location in the series. This urban locale will be the perfect place to experience Japan's unique car culture, including its world-famous car meets, which will feature in-game.

With the aim of authentically creating a racing experience that reflects informal gatherings as well as professionally organized events, Forza Horizon 6 introduces Car Meets, a feature also grounded in Japanese car culture. These meets are inspired by the Daikoku car meet – a world-renowned, mostly spontaneous meeting place and sacred ground for car enthusiasts.

There are three locations in-game where permanent Car Meets take place. One is at the Horizon Festival, another is towards The Alps at the Okuibuki parking area, and the third is of course, at Daikoku itself. Here, players can roll up, meet other real players, check out their cars, download custom paint jobs and designs, and even purchase their own version of a car they like.

We don't have to wait long at all to go hands-on with the game on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with the base game landing on May 19th, and the Premium Edition granting four days of early access from May 15th. That's a big one for the first half of 2026!

It was back in June of last year that we first learned of Beast of Reincarnation — a new action RPG from the team behind the Pokémon games of all things — and it was announced at the time to be coming to Xbox Game Pass.

Today's Xbox Developer Direct 2026 showcase has given us a clearer idea of what to expect from Game Freak's new title, including how the two protagonists interact with each other in this "one-person, one dog" adventure.

Emma is the human's name, and she has the power to manipulate plants, while the dog ("Koo") is a malefactor that is technically supposed to be hunted down. Here's a bit more about this from Xbox Wire:

"Emma was born afflicted by "blight," which has granted her the power to manipulate plants. Void of both memory and emotion, Emma is shunned and feared by those around her, living a life of total isolation.

Koo, on the other hand, is what's known as a "malefact": a creature that poses a dire threat to this world. Emma bears the burden of a "sealer," a role that requires her to hunt these malefacts and absorb their blight into her own body."

There were rumours that a surprise game would be revealed during the event, and it turned out to be a new multiplayer brawler from Double Fine!

The game is called Kiln, and it sees you creating your own pot through an accessible and surprisingly in-depth character creation tool, and then taking it into battle across a series of game modes/maps.

Here's a bit about The Wedge — the pottery creation tool in the game — via Xbox Wire:

Creating your own pot isn't just a pleasant side activity – you're quite literally handcrafting your pot from scratch, with your choices directly influencing how your character plays in the game. In talking with Project Lead Derek Brand, it's these custom pottery creations that help bring the unique elements of Kiln to life. The team worked incredibly hard to balance the feeling of doing it yourself with an accessibility that allows you to jump into the game feeling as though you've made the right pot for the right job.

In terms of game modes, the main one is called "Quench" and sees you trying to douse your enemies' kiln with water, while map variation is said to be a big focus — the game will ship with a bunch of "very different" maps to each other.

Kiln will officially launch for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC and PS5 at some point in Spring 2026, with no specific release date having been revealed as of yet.

After what feels like an absolute eternity since it was first announced, Xbox and Playground Games have finally pulled back the curtain on the upcoming Fable reboot - and wow, this could be an Xbox game for the ages if all comes together in Autumn 2026.

The Forza Horizon specialists are set to deliver a sprawling open world RPG with plenty of choice and consequence, engaging The Witcher/Hogwarts Legacy-like combat and all of the whimsical charm you'd expect from a Fable game. It all looks to be here and well, and it all looks rather stunning.

From a specially created new team at Playground Games (Forza Horizon), this huge, ambitious, hilarious game aims to bring what you love about Fable, and provide a fresh perspective on this legendary franchise.

During Developer_Direct, we learned how the story begins, saw combat in action, had character customization confirmed, discovered how Fable's classic morality system is being reintroduced in a whole new way, found out about the game's Living Population of unique NPCs, and so, so much more.

During the showcase, Playground's Ralph Fulton talked a lot about how the team is both honouring Fable's legacy while opening up the experience to a whole new audience, and honestly, it looks and sounds like they've absolutely nailed the brief.

Check out the attached example shots from this first Fable gameplay deep dive.

The head of Playground Games has also talked extensively with Xbox Wire about this upcoming Fable title, touching on the open world, morality, how the story begins, how combat works and much more. We're going to chuck some small excerpts from each of these topics down below, to give you a bit more context on how this big Xbox RPG is coming together.

Open World: "Right from the start of the project, we've always felt it was important that the player can go wherever they want, from the moment you leave your village and venture out into Albion for the first time. We'll talk more about levelling and progression at a future date, but you should know that being able to go to any one of the settlements in the world and have fun things to do there was imperative to us. And so we shaped our progression around that requirement."
Morality: "Our version of morality isn't a sliding scale – we've chosen to anchor this around the actions you do, and specifically the things you do in Albion that are witnessed by at least one other person. So, if the things you do are seen by one or more people, you'll start to earn a reputation for that thing. Obviously, we always use the chicken kicking example, because kicking chickens is classic Fable."
Story: "In classic Fable fashion you begin the game as a child. We absolutely love that. And that's when – and it's not a spoiler to say – your heroic powers emerge. You realize you're a hero, and everything changes for you from that point. And from there we do a time jump, and we rejoin you in Briar Hill, your starter village, in adulthood – and for the rest of the game you will play as a mature adult in their prime."
Combat: "We're taking the original game's mix of melee, ranged, and magic – 'Strength, Skill, and Will' – and turning it into what we call style-weaving combat. We wanted to create a combat system which was fluid enough to allow you to really frictionlessly, seamlessly swap from melee to ranged to magic, without even a frame's delay on it. You should be able to strike with a sword and then hurl a fireball in a smooth movement. So that's what we've set out to achieve with combat."
