Microsoft has finally set a date for its highly-anticipated July event.

Today, Microsoft announced that this month's big Xbox event – Xbox Games Showcase – will take place on Thursday, July 23 at 9am PT, 12pm ET, 5pm UK. Fans have been looking forward to this particular show since it was first announced back in May.

You'll be able to watch it on the official Xbox channels on Youtube and Twitch. An hour before it kicks off, Geoff Keighley will be hosting a pre-show as part of Summer Game Fest.

Microsoft previously said the focus will be almost entirely on first-party content, coming to Xbox Series X, PC and potentially Xbox One. May's showcase didn't feature any of the projects Microsoft's teams are currently working on, and the platform holder caught some flak for over-promising on reveals, such as in the case of Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

We know Halo Infinite gameplay will debut at Xbox's event, and we expect to see more from Obsidian, The Initiative, Playground Games, Ninja Theory and perhaps other Microsoft studios.

It's possible Microsoft will also talk about the rumoured Xbox Lockhart, said to be a cheaper, less powerful version of Series X. Price remains a mystery for either console, but it would make sense for it to be announced alongside Lockhart.

Looking forward to seeing what they bring to the table in terms of games and hardware. Will there be one, two or three new consoles and what exclusives can we expect?

Looks like we will have an entire hour of nothing but games during the Xbox Games Showcase next week.

According to Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg, we can expect an hour of games to feast our eyes upon during the Xbox Games Showcase.

Don't expect anything console or business-related, according to Greenberg.

As you know, next week's event will take place on Thursday, July 23 at 9am PT, 12pm ET, 5pm UK.

As mentioned above
We know Halo Infinite gameplay will debut at Xbox's event, and we expect to see more from Obsidian, The Initiative, Playground Games, Ninja Theory and perhaps other Microsoft studios.

The show will take place on Youtube and Twitch, and one hour before it starts, Geoff Keighley will host a pre-show as part of the Summer Game Fest so tune into that as well.

Speaking of the Summer Games Fest, Microsoft will host a demo event as part of the Summer Games Fest 2020. During this time, July 21-27, you will be able to play demos for around 60 upcoming, unreleased Xbox games.

As mentioned above, Microsoft confirmed it would be hosting Xbox One demos on the Microsoft Store between July 21-27, 2020 as part of Summer Game Fest. Now, it turns out some of those trials are already showing up.

The storefront is already showing some of the 70 different Xbox One demos people will be able to sample. Not everything is there yet. For example, games like Cris Tales, Haven, and Skatebird aren't there. But a few of the announced titles are showing up.

For example, the games below are already ready.
The final totals for how many trials will appear still haven't been set, but Microsoft's reports have suggested between 70 and 100 could appear. Also, these will be different than ordinary demos that are specifically prepared for occasions and are going to be more like the samples that would be at conventions. So what people could try may be very different than the final project or even be a bit broken.

A few things caught my eye but not really feeling enthused for what looks like an Elder Scrolls effort from Obsidian. That said they'll do a better job than Bethesda ever would.

There wasn't really anything the jumped out at me. I was a little disappointed, to be honest.

It probably means that I'll stick with my Xbox One for a little longer (probably after Christmas).

Avowed being set in the same universe as Pillars of Eternity means they at least have fairly robust lore already in place.

Hard to get overly excited about anything in that reveal, but then that's been the story of this next-gen transition. In truth, it's been a good few generations since I've been absolutely blown away by a game that comes out in the first few years of a generation.

Still looking forward to getting a Series X, if only for the improvements that come around it, like the SSD, etc.
