Ubisoft is stirring up some excitement with news about the next Ghost Recon game! Irina-Gabriela Popa, the live producer, has shared that they're aiming for "a fun, fresh experience" while keeping the core elements that fans love. We're talking tactical action, large-scale operations, and credible military storytelling, all centred around the iconic Ghost Unit.

Alongside this announcement, Ubisoft is rolling out a significant update for Ghost Recon Wildlands. This update promises to enhance the gameplay experience, so it's definitely worth checking out if you're still diving into Wildlands.

As a major free update, Last Rites refreshes the gameplay experience of Ghost Recon Wildlands, delivering a new story-driven mission in which the Ghosts must face off against a new antagonist, La Llorona, and her fanatic cult followers, Los Penitentes. They have nothing to lose, and they're wreaking havoc in Bolivia as La Llorona enacts revenge on those who have wronged her. It also marks the return of the challenging hunt for the iconic Predator. Finally, Last Rites brings a host of new community-driven gameplay updates designed to give players more in-game freedom than ever before.

Ubisoft has launched a new Insider Program for Ghost Recon as it asks players to help it test the next game in the series.

The company officially confirmed during its Ghost Recon 25th anniversary presentation that a new Ghost Recon is in development, then announced the launch of the Ghost Recon Insider Program.

"For the past few years, we've been building the next chapter of Ghost Recon," live producer Irina-Gabriela Popa said during the presentation. "I'm really excited to share with you that now we're ready to put it to the test.

"Because we want to deliver a fun, fresh experience that stays true to everything that defines Ghost Recon – tactical action, large-scale operations, credible military storytelling and, of course, the Ghost Unit."

"To do it, we need your help", senior community developer Pierre Vincent added. "You can join our Insider Program, and what it means is you'll get early access to our Closed Tests.

"Your feedback will help us balance, optimise and fine-tune the experience."

The company has also launched a series-wide sale, offering discounts of up to 95% on previous Ghost Recon titles to celebrate the series' 25th anniversary.

As part of this sale, however, players can claim Ghost Recon: Future Solider for free on the Ubisoft Connect store, an offer that will last until August 13.

Ghost Recon Wildlands and Ghost Recon Breakpoint will also be free to play on consoles and PC from today until August 10, but this will only be a limited free play period. The Future Solider offer allows players to keep the game.

"If you're enjoying the free weekend ride and want to see your mission through in Wildlands or Breakpoint, or you want to recon some of the Ghost's past campaigns in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier or the original Ghost Recon, those games are on sale now for up to 95% across all platforms – Xbox, PlayStation, Ubisoft Connect and Steam," Ubisoft senior editorial communications manager Chris Watters said during Ubisoft's Ghost Recon 25th anniversary presentation.

EA SPORTS FC 27 has announced that Kylian Mbappé will be the cover athlete for its Ultimate Edition. This marks a return for the French superstar, who hasn't graced the cover of the franchise in four years.

His return to the cover comes after the transition from the FIFA branding to EA SPORTS FC, making this a special moment for both the player and the franchise.

Fans of the Tomb Raider series will have to wait a bit longer for Lara Croft's next adventure. The highly anticipated game, Tomb Raider Catalyst, has been officially delayed and is now set to release in 2028. While this news may be disappointing for many, there is still a silver lining to consider.

In the meantime, players can look forward to Legacy of Atlantis, which is scheduled to launch in February 2027. This upcoming title promises to deliver exciting gameplay and engaging storytelling, keeping the spirit of the franchise alive while we await the next chapter in Lara's journey.

According to recent insider information, we might be looking at a wait of at least another year before we see the next instalment in the Assassin's Creed series, codenamed Hexe, hit the shelves.

It seems that Assassin's Creed Hexe will likely launch in late 2027, at the earliest.

This comes right after reports claimed that an official reveal for Assassin's Creed Hexe was imminent, which would normally indicate a release window that was approaching swiftly. Of course, these rumours were compounded by the leak of a DLC, which made fans hopeful that Hexe would launch earlier than many had anticipated.

However, Assassin's Creed Hexe is still more than a year away from launch, according to the leaker who has a good track record of previous Assassin's Creed leaks. The game has gone through a tumultuous development cycle, and that has naturally pushed the game back from its original launch target, which was right around summer 2027.

The PlayStation App was updated recently. One new feature is that the PlayStation takes any screenshots you take and stores them on your app for download for 14 days.

I thought it might be a good excuse to start sharing people's in-game captures. Obviously, this is open to all platforms and not limited to PlayStation owners.

I'll kick off with Gran Turismo 7 and Elden Ring. Time to start taking better pics.

It seems that Obsidian Entertainment is making some significant changes in its development plans. According to recent reports, the studio has decided to cancel the Avowed sequel to dedicate its resources to a new Fallout game. This decision comes as part of a broader restructuring within Xbox, which has seen numerous layoffs across various teams.

The news, first reported by Bloomberg, indicates that Josh Sawyer, who previously worked as the lead designer and project director on the beloved Fallout: New Vegas, will be at the helm of this new project. Interestingly, Sawyer was initially working on a different RPG that shared structural similarities with Fallout before this shift in focus.

While this might be disappointing for fans eagerly awaiting Avowed 2, there is a silver lining. A small team at Obsidian will continue to work on Avowed 2 with the hope of reviving the project in the future.

For many fans of the Fallout franchise, this news is likely to be met with excitement. Fallout: New Vegas remains a fan-favourite, and it's been quite some time since we've seen a new mainline single-player Fallout game. The last major release was Fallout 4 in 2015, followed by Fallout 76, which took the series in a different direction as an MMO-style game.

Additionally, the ongoing live-action Fallout TV series on Prime Video has reignited interest in the franchise, further fuelling the desire for a new single-player game. With Bethesda currently focused on developing The Elder Scrolls 6, it seems that a new Fallout game from them could be quite a while away.

While the cancellation of Avowed 2 may be disappointing, the prospect of a new Fallout game from Obsidian is certainly something to look forward to.
As excitement builds around the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto VI, it seems that some less-than-honest individuals are trying to take advantage of eager fans. Reports indicate that scams targeting GTA enthusiasts are on the rise, with grifters aiming to steal personal information and money from unsuspecting players.

Fake GTA VI beta keys & subscription traps
Of all the cons currently being pulled, fake GTA 6 beta keys are among the most prevalent.

Primarily, these sort of scams will begin by offering you access to the beta via an online form. It should go without saying that unsolicited online forms should be ignored, but Nord has seen these scams use social engineering tactics, such as 'Are you a bot?' checks, to try to convince users of their legitimacy.

Those who've filled in the form are then pushed towards downloading an app, or signing up to a paid subscription with terms that make it difficult to get out of.

Scams like this rely on FOMO and curiosity, but the reality is that Rockstar hasn't announced ANY public beta. You won't be missing out on anything by simply ignoring these forms — so close the tab and walk away.

Trojanized repacks targeting Windows PC
Perhaps the most sophisticated GTA 6 scam known to be in circulation involves Trojan viruses, which are generally spread via piracy or 'repacking' sites (used to distribute compressed versions of video games).

By mimicking the look and function of authentic installers (hence the name Trojan), scammers are tricking users into triggering DLL sideloading attacks on their own devices.

Once started, the Trojan attack begins to inject malicious files into the target device, and depending on how it's been coded, can lead to the malware altering system memory, making root-level changes, or even connecting to external servers to download additional viruses.

Android adware presented as a GTA 6 Beta
Nord also notes that Android mobile users are being targeted by an illegitimate 'GTA 6 Beta' app that's currently found on the Google Play Store.

Although it looks convincing, the app is far from trustworthy, and if you were to click on its 'Download OBB' link, you'd be sent through a series of known malicious domains, linked to infostealers, banking trojans, adware, and ransomware sites.

Again, there is no authentic GTA Beta App for Android, iOS or any other mobile operating service. If you see an advert for one, simply ignore it.

So, how can you protect yourself from these scams? Here are some straightforward tips to keep in mind:

1. Be Wary of Unofficial Sources
Always ensure that you are getting information from reputable and official channels. If a website or social media account claims to have insider information or early access to the game, double-check its authenticity.

2. Avoid Sharing Personal Information
Never provide sensitive information such as your credit card details, passwords, or personal identification to anyone claiming to offer special deals or access to the game.

3. Look for Red Flags
Watch out for offers that seem too good to be true. If a deal promises free access to the game or exclusive content for a minimal fee, it's likely a scam.

4. Use Secure Payment Methods
When making purchases, always use secure payment methods that offer buyer protection. This adds an extra layer of security in case something goes wrong.

5. Report Suspicious Activity
If you encounter a scam or suspicious activity, report it to the relevant authorities or platforms. This helps protect others in the community from falling victim to similar schemes.

Make sure to doublecheck URLs before clicking them. If something seems off, copy and paste the URL into a link checker like Cloudflare's, which will let you know if it's safe or not.

By staying vigilant and following these tips, you can enjoy the anticipation of Grand Theft Auto VI without falling prey to scams.

The demos used to be class, you seemed to get almost full games, same applied to PC games at times. It was brilliant.

Saber Interactive's wonderful Warhammer 40,000 action game Space Marine 2 is coming to Nintendo Switch 2! I stumbled upon this almost by mistake the other day – it turns out you can now download and play a massive collection of games that were given away by PC Gamer Magazine over the years!

Between 1993 and 2013, PC Gamer, along with its sister brand Computeractive, bundled up over 750 CDs of games. That's right, 750! The entire collection is a whopping 1.2TB, which is just mind-blowing when you think about how many classic titles are tucked away in there. Most of these CDs hover around the 650MB mark, so it's quite a treasure trove for gamers who love a bit of nostalgia.

What Kind of Games Can You Find?
It's a mix of everything really – from indie gems to some of the bigger titles that shaped gaming back in the day. If you've got a soft spot for retro games or just fancy a trip down memory lane, this is definitely worth checking out.

How to Access the Collection
You can grab the entire collection and enjoy the games at your leisure. It's a fantastic opportunity for those who might have missed out on these titles when they were first released.
