Ark: Survival Ascended While we're not certain when Ark 2 will be out, fans of the original game can still look forward to the remake of the first game, Ark: Survival Ascended. In a new trailer, Studio Wildcard showed off all the hard work that has gone into creating highly detailed and realistic-looking environments, the brutal power of the dinosaurs that roam the land, and some of the cross-platform modding that'll be available in this remake. Manor Lords Build your own medieval town, assemble the peasants I mean townsfolk, and establish a thriving community in this game where resistance is feudal. Of course, some bandits will be looking to raid your homestead, so you'll need to rally your villagers to fight back in this historical city-building game that has a keen eye for authenticity. Manor Lords will arrive on PC Game Pass in April 2024. Spirit of the North 2 The acclaimed Spirit of the North is finally getting a sequel, and this time, you'll be taking on the role of an isolated fox who is on a quest to restore the lost guardians and return home. Fortunately, the cunning fox has a raven companion who'll accompany him on his journey across an ancient world left in ruin by the machinations of the dark shaman Grimnir. There's no release date yet for the game, but it'll eventually land on Xbox Series X|S. Alan Wake 2 Only a few more sleeps remain until Alan Wake 2, and in the launch trailer for the game, Remedy Entertainment showed off some brand-new gameplay featuring the Saga Anderson facing off against a terrifying new enemy. Who is the victim, and who is the monster? That's the gruesome answer that Saga will discover when she investigates a series of brutal murders, while Alan Wake will work to write himself out of a nightmarish dimension of his own creation. The Finals The Finals is an upcoming team-based competitive shooter from Embark Studios, and in this new look at the free-to-play game, the developer showed off some of the fun destruction physics that you can use to your advantage or to create pure chaotic spectacle in a match. Insomniac provided a new look at Marvel's Spider-Man 2 during the PlayStation State of Play presentation this evening. In the video, creative director Bryan Intihar provides a deep dive into the expanded New York featuring new locations, updated exploration, enlivened traversal, near-instant switching between heroes, villains, new abilities and gadgets, and brand-new Suit Styles. New enemies are also on the prowl and it's not just Kraven the Hunter and Venom: there are additional baddies causing trouble in the city and straining our heroes. The game features 65 suits, some of which are new original designs while others are fan favorites from films and comics. There's also Suit Styles, a new feature that unlocks alternate color shaders for some suits and provides over 200 ways for you to outfit your Spider-Man. The Digital Deluxe Edition, announced in May, will feature additional Photo Mode items, two Skill Points, and 10 exclusive Spidey suits. PlayStation has announced the next line-up of free games for September, and subtly announced a cheeky subscription price hike… This was announced via PlayStation’s official social media channels, which linked back to a blogpost detailing the update. The blog read: “We also wanted to let you know that starting September 6 we will be increasing the price for PlayStation Plus 12-month subscriptions globally across all benefit plans. This price adjustment will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service. “ The new prices are as follows: USD EURO GBP YEN Essential 12-Month Subscription 79.99 71,99 59.99 6,800 Extra 12-Month Subscription 134.99 125,99 99.99 11,700 Premium 12-Month Subscription 159.99 151,99 119.99 13,900 That’s quite the difference in price, and PlayStation didn’t allude to any bonus features coming to the subscription service to compensate for the increase. A discount will remain for those who purchase 12 months of a tier as opposed to those who choose monthly payments. It also said those who are currently subscribed to a 12-month subscription will see no “effect until your next renewal date that occurs on or after November 6.”
Half-Life 2 is getting some revamped visuals thanks to modders using Nvidia's RTX Remix. The RTX Community Project is remastering the title, dubbed Half-Life 2 RTX, and it's in development with four of Half-Life 2's top mod teams. Using RTX Remix, Half-Life 2 RTX will feature full ray tracing, DLSS 3, Reflex, and RTX IO in a similar vein to Portal, which was given the RTX treatment last year. Looking over the teaser trailer, the 2004 FPS definitely looks modern, rather swish, and doesn't show its age one bit. One of the highest-rated titles of all time, Half-Life 2 earned 39 Game of the Year awards back in the day and is cited as one of the best games ever. Developed by Valve, it is the sequel to 1998's Half-Life. If you have never played it (for shame!), it stars Gordon Freeman. He is part of a resistance movement to liberate the Earth from a multidimensional alien empire called the Combine. Originally released for Steam, eventually, it was ported to Linux, Mac, PlayStation 3, Xbox, and Xbox 360. The last count in 2011 had it sitting at 12 million copies sold. The game was followed up by the extra level Lost Coast and the episodic sequels Episode One and Episode Two. Valve originally planned to make Episode Three but canceled it alongside other Half-Life projects. Valve did, however, see fit to release a prequel - the highly popular Half-Life: Alyx.
Microsoft will close its Xbox 360 digital store next July, though anything purchased will still be accessible. On 29th July 2024, Xbox 360 users will no longer be able to purchase new games, DLC, or other entertainment content from either the console store or the web-based marketplace. In addition, the Microsoft Movies & TV app on the Xbox 360 will no longer function. Of course, the store will continue as normal until that date next July. After that time, any games purchased will still remain playable and deleted purchases can still be re-downloaded. Online multiplayer will also remain accessible for games already purchased (digitally or physically), as long as the publisher supports the servers. Further, users will still be able to play Xbox 360 games on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S consoles via backward compatibility, and hundreds of games will remain available to purchase on those consoles. "A lot has changed since the Xbox 360 launched in 2005. Technology has evolved, expectations from players have shifted, and we are focused on making Xbox Series X/S the best place to play now and in the future," reads an Xbox blog post about the update. "What has not changed is our commitment to preserving your ability to play the content you have already purchased on your preferred device, which means we are committed to supporting Xbox 360 gameplay for the foreseeable future - and you will still be able to play and re-download previously purchased content and connect with friends." This coming November marks 18 years since the Xbox 360 first launched alongside the likes of Call of Duty 2, Kameo: Elements of Power, Perfect Dark Zero, and Project Gotham Racing 3. The console was later home to games like Gear of War, Mass Effect, BioShock, Halo 3, Fable 2, and plenty more.

I've had that for a few months now on Alpha builds! I much prefer it to the old one. There's room for more previous games with the smaller tiles and the tiles are no longer taken up with Store and Game Pass, they live up the top now. I put the dynamic background of the OG xbox startup and I think it works nicely
As is the norm, there were some sweet looking titles in today's Annapurna showcase. A new Bladerunner game from Annapurna themselves is very exciting, although we didn't learn too much about it. Lushfoil Photography Sim looks gorgeous too. Ghost Bike is worth a look as it's from the maker of Nidhogg. Oh, and Cocoon gets a September release date, and Stray is coming to Xbox. https://www.gameinformer.com/news/2023/06/29/everything-announced-during-todays-annapurna-interactive-showcase
