Very short notice for many people travelling this weekend.

They have made a mess-up of this imo, one Catalonian region has had a big spike in cases, all the coastal areas have not, and they have very very little cases.

I'd be raging if my holiday plans had been affected by this sudden u-turn by the Scottish government.

The advice was as black and white as it was possible to be, is as much as folk were warned that things could change even while they were abroad on holiday. Why take such a risk?

I would say that still offering people the option makes it a grey area. The travel companies are in trouble and are carrying on as if nothing has happened.

Won't judge anyone for travelling as the option is still on the table for them.

Personally, if someone was allowed back into my workplace after a foreign holiday from a high infection country I'd complain to HR and tell them its a health and safety issue that needs sorted.

I reckon that we will look back if there is a second wave and say that this is a major f**k up.

Sounds like everything will be held off now till the schools go back in Scotland, I reckon we would see changes being announced for or on the 20th August. Not great for those still closed, and again I question the motives for reopening indoor hospitality before other sectors that are, in probable reality, going to be safer and better at the following guidance.

Fed up with those moaning about quarantining from Spain. It was said it would be a risk to go abroad, but it's the very entitled attitude of "I've got to on my holidays" that we have here. These folk need to take some personal responsibility.

They think there has been a cluster of new cases in Glasgow in the last few days so it isn't going away yet.
People with coronavirus symptoms in England will be told to self-isolate for 10 days instead of seven, according to reports.

Health Secretary Matt Hancock is expected to announce the increase in isolation period on Thursday, but it is not clear if Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland will adopt the same policy.
If true, I can't see people being happy with this ruling.

It doesn't look like gyms will be opening before the 14th September. The way things are going I have my doubts they will open then.

Most major commercial gyms can easily segregate people, control numbers and run booking systems. Our gym already has cleaners doing circuits of the gym floor all the time. It has an electronic entry system that can easily monitor everyone in the place at any one time - it records every time someone goes into a gym.

Getting frustrated by this now :(

Nicola Sturgeon did announce today that schools will return on 11th August and will be working as normal within a week.

Parts of Northern England are under restrictions again.

So you can't go to your mate's house to see them, but you can go to the pub and meet them and loads of other randoms who have been up to who knows what.

I wasn't in favour of the local lockdown measures before but the restrictions coming into place in Manchester, Yorkshire etc have pretty much zero use and seem to eschew science in favour of people-pleasing and bringing in some readies.

Throughout the pandemic, I've had the viewpoint that the world's problems are bigger than ours and having to close in order to protect public safety was obviously the right thing to do. We've never objected to any rules etc and have abided by lockdown guidelines. BUT, I find it absolutely shocking that pubs are open, welcoming multiple different households at the same table (not socially distanced) and almost every other sector has re-opened. Yes, I know people are allowed extended households now, but let's be honest, that's not being followed in the pubs. I would totally get it if we were getting extra financial support. The fact that the SAME support (if any at all) was offered to all businesses, even though some didn't even need to close in the first place, is ridiculous. Now, most places are up and running again and we have been completely left behind. I'm annoyed and frustrated too!

It's ridiculous like, I've no idea how they can deem pubs a "safer" environment than gyms.

To keep the gyms closed for a further 6 weeks is just totally crazy, with no real justification, science based or otherwise.
