I'm glad to see the back of Watford. For a while I wanted them to complete the "great escape" but they deserve to go down for the way they sack managers. Shame about Bournemouth, they seem like a "nice" club who've battled against the odds to be where they are. They will lose some players and possibly their manager but I hope they don't plummet down the divisions as some other clubs have done in the past.
Leicester blew it big time. Not just today but over the last quarter or more of the league. At one point they were nearly in the same bracket as Liverpool and City, while the rest were miles behind.
Just take the 2nd half of the season and they'd have finished 12th.
Today is David Silva's final appearance in the Premier League and what a player he has been.
Silva the best Spanish player to play in the league?

Yes, I heard someone say 23 points in 21 games. That is pretty appalling given how well they had done to that point

Probably. Considering he spent a decade there too helps but he's been a fantastic player for the vast majority of it.

Another crazy end of season stat is that Liverpool finished 50pts ahead of Everton. Staggering stuff.

Leicester absolutely blew it, they were miles ahead with Liverpool and City at one stage but 5th is probably about right.

It's a cliché but Bruno Fernandes has repaid his Old Trafford transfer fee already. I still think they have too many players at Man United who blow hot and cold but a big step in the right direction. 96 plus points is the benchmark now for 3 seasons to win the league or challenge. I don't think the points gap between Liverpool and Man City is a true indicator of both team's abilities but the gap between those two and the rest is clear to see. It will take the likes of Man United and Chelsea a couple more perfect transfer windows yet to bridge the gap.

I've no doubt that United wouldn't have got top 4 had it not have been for Bruno so you're absolutely dead right.

I think it'll still be City and Liverpool next year competing at the very top, Chelsea needs to shore up at the back and question marks over Woodward's ability to get the right players in quickly will leave United's squad depleted. Arsenal and Spurs to be the chasing pack behind those two IMO.

Even more outrageous when you consider how much money each has spent in recent years. Frightening how much Everton have blown on ordinary players.

How much did Bruno cost again?

How much did Bruno cost again?
I think it was £48m and then there's add ons to potentially increase it to £67m but I'd doubt that they have been filled just yet despite how revelatory he's been. Worth every penny

The Saudi backed consortium has pulled out of the proposed £300m takeover of Newcastle United.

A Saudi Arabian-backed consortium has pulled out of a bid to buy Newcastle United.

Documents relating to a £300m takeover had been registered with the Premier League 16 weeks ago.

However, the deal was still being scrutinised under the owners' and directors' test.

It is understood Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth Public Investment Fund (PIF) ran out of patience waiting for approval.

Good but a pity for Newcastle. Not surprised there's been a fair bit of obstruction by various interests (esp TV rights and piracy) and I think a few lessons learnt re previous "state" ownership (by any other name) examples

Eddie Howe has left Bournemouth by mutual consent.

"Although the love for this football club will always remain, we collectively feel that now is the right time for the club to go in a new direction"

Good manager he'll be back in a job in the league before the year is out.
