The Baltimore Ravens have announced that Jesse Minter has been appointed their new head coach following the departure of John Harbaugh.

Harbaugh spent 18 seasons in charge of the Ravens before being fired earlier this month. He was the most successful coach in franchise history, but lost his job after Baltimore failed to make the playoffs.

Minter most recently served as defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers, having previously been on the staff of the Ravens.

Now the 42-year-old has been given the top job. Baltimore general manager Eric DeCosta said in a statement: 'We are thrilled to announce an agreement with Jesse Minter to be the fourth head coach in Baltimore Ravens history.

'Jesse is a strong leader who possesses a brilliant football mind and a spirit that will resonate with our players and fanbase alike.

'Jesse comes from a football family, with success at every level of the sport, and we are confident that he is the right head coach to lead the Ravens forward.

'Congratulations to Jesse and his wife, Rachelle, and the entire Minter family. It's time to get to work.'

Mike McCarthy has reached a verbal agreement with the Pittsburgh Steelers to become their next head coach. The move comes less than two weeks after Mike Tomlin stepped down after 19 seasons.

McCarthy, 62, most recently served as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers. His crowning achievement came following the 2010 season, when he and Aaron Rodgers defeated the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV.

I'm not sure this is an appointment that will fill the Steelers fans with much optimism.

The Buffalo Bills are promoting offensive coordinator Joe Brady to be the franchise's next head coach on a five-year deal, the team announced on Tuesday.

Over the last two seasons, Brady's offense has produced a league MVP quarterback and a rushing champion. Running back James Cook gained 1,912 scrimmage yards and scored 14 touchdowns last season, while quarterback Josh Allen threw for 3,668 yards and 25 touchdowns against 10 interceptions. He also rushed for 14 scores.

The Bills this season ranked fourth in scoring and total yards. They ranked second in yards per rushing attempt and third in yards per pass.

Not a very inspiring appointment, tbh. Good play caller but he will need to bring in a very good defensive coach.

The Cleveland Browns are hiring Todd Monken as their new head coach, the team announced Wednesday.

Monken spent the last three seasons as the Baltimore Ravens' offensive coordinator. The 2024 Baltimore offense led the NFL in total yards and yards per play. Monken was the Browns' offensive coordinator under then-head coach Freddie Kitchens in 2019, a season that ended with the entire coaching staff and front office getting fired.

Monken, who turns 60 next week, has 11 years of NFL coaching experience. His only previous head-coaching experience was at Southern Miss from 2013 to 2015, a job he left to become the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offensive coordinator in 2016.

"Todd is highly intelligent, and his experienced, innovative offensive mindset has been at the forefront of constructing productive and successful offenses at the NFL and collegiate level over the last 20 years," team owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam said in a statement. "He is an outstanding leader and has a clear vision to lead our team as a strong communicator who values trust with his players, but also accountability and preparation."

The Browns requested an interview with Monken before the Ravens' shakeup, which ended with John Harbaugh being fired after 18 years as head coach.

I don't hate this hire but what does Monken bring that Stefanski lacked? I think the Browns problems are deeper than the coaching staff and roster.
