1 in 20 people in Scotland have Covid as cases continue to rise at an alarming rate. Looks very much like a new wave has started to peak. No new restrictions in place but it is advisable to wear a face mask indoors health experts say.

Heard this yesterday, how depressing. Hopefully we aren't looking at the introduction of restrictions again.

I've felt rotten a few times lately but always tested negative 🤞

Covid cases in the UK have passed 275,000 a day and could reach 300,000 early next week, scientists say.

Daily symptomatic infections have risen by 150 per cent this month, rising from 114,030 on 1 June to 285,507 on Monday, according to the latest figures.

Looks like a tough few months ahead. I'm still wearing my mask if I'm on public transport and in some other public places if they are very crowded

Tested positive yesterday.

Got to isolate for another 4 days before I can take my tests and hopefully get two negative results on consecutive days.

So the Mrs and I finally got covid this week.

Mild cold symptoms so far and its knocked my sleep pattern out of sync.

I think I am the last person to catch it in my entire family.

Missing contact with the kids and grand kids but fingers crossed it won't be for long.

Doesn't seem like Covid is going away

A Covid variant dubbed "the kraken" could become one of the dominant strains in the UK, officials have said.

Experts stressed XBB.1.5 – a "sub lineage" of the omicron variant – is not more dangerous than the original omicron strain.

But the kraken and another variant from the "omicron family", known as CH.1.1, do have a "growth advantage" and could become the dominant variants in the UK, experts have said.

At present, the dominant variant in the UK is another omicron sub lineage known as BQ.1.

Life may have returned to normal for many of us, but Covid cases are back on the rise, with an estimated 200,000 jump in UK cases during July.

Experts say that a new strain of Omicron, dubbed Eris, is partly to blame for the latest surge – and is responsible for one in seven UK Covid cases.

Other reasons for the increase include the recent wet weather – which is bringing more people together indoors – plus waning immunity from the vaccines, and the Arcturus sub-variant, which also stemmed from Omicron.

As it's a strain of Omicron, the top 10 symptoms are likely to be similar to those commonly reported, which are:
  • a sore throat
  • a runny nose
  • a blocked nose
  • sneezing
  • a cough without phlegm
  • a headache
  • a cough with phlegm
  • a hoarse voice
  • muscle aches and pains
  • an altered sense of smell

Hopefully nothing other than seasonal rises.

I was in Tesco today, and the plastic screens separating us from the checkout staff have been removed.

I had covid a few weeks back which knocked me for the best part of three weeks. Seems to be on the rise again but maybe just locally.
