The announcement comes as part of ambitious government plans to tackle the rise in youth vaping and protect children's health.

Recent figures show the number of children using vapes in the past three years has tripled. Use among younger children is also rising, with 9% of 11 to 15-year-olds now using vapes.

Disposable vapes have been a key driver behind the alarming rise in youth vaping, with the proportion of 11 to 17-year-old vapers using disposables increasing almost ninefold in the last two years.

Walk 20 or 30 yards around my neighbourhood and you will most likely see 10 or so disposable vapes lying around the place.

I don't think this will discourage youngsters from using them and discarding them in the streets but at least they are trying something.

I'm convinced that around here they are using them, maybe mixed with something else, to get some sort of high. They are all wee thugs and druggies...even the younger teens.

The prime minister announced the election would be in the early summer in a high-risk move for the Conservative party as it trails 20 points behind Labour in the polls.

Sunak finally decided to name the date after claiming inflation was back under control and the economy was improving.

I think people are ready for change. I've not got much confidence in Keir Starmer as a leader but I think he will be the next Prime Minister

I am so disengaged with politics and politicians I don't know what to do.

I mean, I know what I won't be doing, but then I look at Labour and wonder if they are worth a vote, or are they just another useless bunch.

I honestly don't think there is currently a party that represents me. I hate the way ALL politicians speak and act.

There is just no party that's desirable to vote for unfortunately but I do agree a change is needed.

Former PM Liz Truss insists she's not the worst leader the country's ever had - claiming that dubious honour belongs to Tony Blair.

The 49-day Tory Prime Minister claimed Blair did more damage than her by passing legislation like the Climate Change Act.

Asked if she had the worst record in recent times, she said: "The worst Prime Minister in recent years is Tony Blair who created things like the Equality Act, the Human Rights Act and the Climate Change Act."



As Robert Burns once wrote. "Oh, the gift that God would give us, to see our-self are others see us".

Don't forget photo ID when you go to vote tomorrow. This wasn't around at the last General Election and you now can't vote without it.

And remember, if you don't vote you can't really complain about what the next government do - whether you voted for the next elected government or another party.

We'll be waking up tomorrow to a completely different, and hopefully better, political environment. Sir Keir Starmer is set to become the Prime Minister and the SNP are going to lose their grip on power in Scotland and (again, hopefully) end all talk of Scottish Independence.

Labour is set to win a general election landslide with a majority of 170, according to an exit poll for the BBC, ITV and Sky.

If the forecast is accurate, Sir Keir Starmer will become prime minister with 410 Labour MPs – just short of Tony Blair's 1997 total.

The Conservatives are predicted to slump to 131 MPs, their lowest number ever.

The Liberal Democrats are projected to come third with 61 MPs.

The Scottish National Party will see its number of MPs fall to 10, while Reform UK is forecast to get 13 MPs, according to the exit poll.

The Green Party of England and Wales is predicted to double its number of MPs to two and Plaid Cymru is set to get four MPs. Others are forecast to get 19 seats.

The exit poll, overseen by Sir John Curtice and a team of statisticians, is based on data from voters at about 130 polling stations in England, Scotland and Wales. The poll does not cover Northern Ireland.

At the past five general elections, the exit poll has been accurate to within a range of 1.5 and 7.5 seats.
