Escape from Tarkov
Escape from Tarkov is set in the fictional Norvinsk region in north-western Russia, around a "Special economic zone" that served as a gateway between Russia and Europe. However, this attracted corporations with dubious intent, and the city of Tarkov became the center for a major political scandal involving corrupt corporations in the Norvinsk region. Six months later the situation erupted into an armed conflict involving the Internal Troops of Russia, United Nations peacekeepers, and two private military companies: United Security (USEC) and BEAR. The Norvinsk region's borders were sealed off, and those trapped in the middle of the local warfare were isolated from the outside world. USEC was hired by the Terra Group, one of the corrupt corporations involved in the scandal, to hinder investigations during the conflict, while BEAR was hired by the Russian Government to uncover evidence about Terra Group.

The player has the titular objective of escaping the city of Tarkov by working for one of these private military companies.

Been playing it since before Christmas, It's good. But the server lag and net code sucks. I've been getting some deaths that are nothing short of frustrating. But the idea for the game is awesome and I really enjoy it

What's the story with getting single player mod?

Do I have buy Tarkov?

I've never played but no interest in online just the single player mod/mods.

For both the official single player and unofficial mod you need to buy Tarkov. For the mod you only need the base game so it's quite a bit cheaper than buying the highest tier which is the only way to purchase the official single player access currently.

Also as someone who has access to both I would advise you to play the mod, the official single player is pants, it's still hosted on a server and can take upwards of 10 minutes to start a game.

The mod is hosted on your PC so games take seconds to start and it has a huge array of fixes for the game like graphics, better bots options and loads of QOL improvements.

No problem all the mod stuff is here if you werent sure where to go SPT - Single Player Tarkov

there's a really great discord for helping with it and advising on best stuff to add to it.

Also be aware the Tarkov devs REALLY don't like the mod and if they catch you which would only be really possible if you ran both the Tarkov and Mod launcher at the same time they would probably ban your account

I didn't realize they didn't like it! I've SPT downloaded and got it working. Not sure whether some of the mods are working or not but I will see later when I get back to it. I wouldn't have the patience to play online Tarkov

That Nikita guy has stated to Klean amongst others they will not do anything to anyone who plays it because it's revenue for them.

Klean even got permission to stream it so you are at no risk while playing it.

Check out Starvox on YT, he goes into great detail about the mods for SPT.

I'm running over 30 mods and no compatibility issues at all.

It's a fantastic experience and infinitely better than the standard game imho.

I agree. I wouldn't trust Nikita as far as I could throw him. He's proven in the last month that absolutely nothing he says can be relied upon. Klean gets away with it by being who he is.

Battlestate Games has released a new Escape from Tarkov roadmap, announcing that the hardcore FPS will be available on Steam following the launch of the 1.0 version.

A lot is happening in the Tarkov universe. The recent developer stream revealed a roadmap for updates in 2025, providing a release window for version 1.0, along with a couple of smaller EFT patches set to roll out between May and August.

Apparently, the long-awaited Steam release is finally happening, though the game will only arrive on Valve's platform after version 1.0 launches, meaning September 2025 at the earliest.

Many might say it's about time, as the game has been in early access since 2017. Still, it remains popular among its dedicated fanbase, and the Steam release could help it reach new heights.

The game's gladiator-style spin-off, Escape from Tarkov: Arena, will also be heading to Steam - this one even before version 1.0 drops. As with the main dish, the exact release date hasn't been announced yet.

While the Escape from Tarkov Steam launch is still months away, the game is currently available through its official website, offered in several different editions.
