Our local Morrisons have ended all measures bar the perspex screens at the checkouts.

No queuing to enter or for checkouts. Last Friday of the month and it was chaos. Packed with huge queues at every checkout now stretching up the aisles with no social distancing and folk just pushing through. Bar masks it was totally as if we had reverted back to February.

It's been that way where I shop for the last few weeks. QUite worrying how quickly the safety measures have all but been discarded.

Reading that SAGE described worst-case scenario of 85,000 deaths this winter from COVID-19 as acceptable

Doesn't look like this is going away any time soon, does it?

No it doesn't. Yesterday was the second highest daily rise in Scotland since May

Looking like localised restrictions coming in Glasgow. Be interesting to see what they propose.

A KFC and McDonalds in Glasgow shut because staff have covid. The former is shut for 2 weeks. Don't know whether they're doing that for "good PR" or fear?

In other news the Christmas street party here has been cancelled and the fireworks display which happens down the beach and has about 300 folks there.

Almost 3000 positive cases reported on Sunday. We will have to wait to see what the figures are like over the next few days but it looks like the UK could be experiencing a second wave of COVID-19.

Social gatherings of more than six people will be illegal in England from Monday - with some exemptions - amid a steep rise in coronavirus cases.

A new legal limit will ban larger groups meeting anywhere socially indoors or outdoors, No 10 said.

But it will not apply to schools, workplaces or Covid-secure weddings, funerals and organised team sports.

It will be enforced through a £100 fine if people fail to comply with police, doubling up to a maximum of £3,200.

Several exemptions apply to the new rules - which come into force on 14 September - with households and support bubbles bigger than six people unaffected.

The whole of the UK would be better off following the same guidelines instead of differing rules for each of the nations.

Do they think that the virus stops at borders or something?

I don't think we will see a full-scale lockdown like the one we had, the economy is simply too important. At most, in England, I think we will continue to see local lockdowns, businesses temporarily restricted and year groups isolating from schools.
