Anthony Joshua Daniel Dubois fight loss future

The discussion kicks off with Joshua's shocking defeat to Dubois, where many fans express disbelief over his performance. Critics highlight Joshua's form since his losses to Usyk, suggesting that he appeared gun-shy, lacking the aggression needed in the ring. There is a palpable sense of anxiety among the commentators about Joshua's future in the sport, especially considering the multitude of knockdowns he suffered during the fight.12

As the conversation unfolds, opinions diverge on the implications of Joshua's performance. Some argue that this may signal the end of his career, emphasizing the need for him to reassess his approach or contemplate retirement. Others criticize the lack of urgency in his corner, feeling that they should have pulled him from such a one-sided contest earlier.34

The sentiment shifts slightly as fans begin to discuss potential next steps for Joshua. While some believe he may not have the skill set to reclaim his status, others hold out hope for a comeback. Dubois, credited for his impressive performance, raises questions about how Joshua will deal with future matchups against formidable opponents.56

"Dubios destroyed him there. That was a brilliant performance."

"Thought he was going to stage a comeback them ooof."

Wardley isn't very good at all, he's a puncher and has a great chin but he has very little boxing skills or defence. He was swinging wildly and every time he missed he was open to Dubois and punished.

One hell of a fight but it leaves me thinking - where the hell do both of them go next?

Itauma v Dubois would be the logical one but I doubt we will see it. Itauma's team will probably (rightly) take their time with him. He's still a kid.

Not sure where Wardley goes. He's massively over achieved so far. Tonight showed his lack of boxing skills.

Wardley was very brave but his corner or the ref should have stopped that 2 rounds or more earlier.

What a fight, but in the end I thought it showed that Dubois' a different level from Wardley. Hope Wardley's OK, fight should have been stopped far earlier.

Wardley really has no business being at world level in terms of boxing ability, he just has so much fight in him, which has carried him so far. This time he came up against a better boxer, who hits hard himself, and somehow found some resilience that we haven't seen from him before.

I love brutal violence in boxing - but the last 4/5 minutes were uncomfortable.

Wardley did catch DDD a few times in later rounds, but little effect at this stage and seeing him wobble all over at the end of I think the 10th, I thought it was obvious for everyone.

Wardley has lost a few years with some of his recent fights - his chin is way more talented than his fists

Fabio Wardley has activated a clause for an immediate rematch with Daniel Dubois.

Probably the right move for Wardley. It is another million quid or so, so he's set for life afterwards, no matter what.

Lucky escape for Usyk tonight in what many thought would be a routine fight against kick boxing master Rico Verhoeven who was competing in only his second ever boxing match.

I had Verhoeven at least 2 rounds ahead when Usyk caught him towards the end of the 11th round. He took an 8 count and did look unsteady when Usyk pounced on him again. Controversially, the referee stepped in and stopped the fight with one second left in the round.

Seemed like a bad decision by the referee. Usyk may well have finished the fight off in the final round. Verhoeven looked hurt and exhausted but surely you give the fighter a chance?

A surprisingly good fight. All credit goes to Verhoeven for giving Usyk all sorts of problems and almost pulling off a huge shock.

Usyk looked out of sorts for the majority of the fight, imo.

Stoppage was debatable but Usyk did what he needed to do in the end. Poor performance overall from him but he's just got that extra gear when it matters that most others (if any) in the division dont have.

Well done to Rico though, showed that he could dance. Would like to see him fight again after some more coaching.
