Dundee's infection rates have gone back up again - driven by another cluster in the Perth Road area - 30 cases in past 7 days.

No chance we'll get moved to Tier 2 any time soon.

Finally some good news.

The Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine has been approved for use in the UK by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency.

Vaccination is the only way that the country is going to return to any sense of normality.

I still think there will be some preventative measures in place for a while like face masks, social distancing and some restrictions on the numbers in public places but this is good news.

It may be some time before everyone receives the vaccine though.

The vaccination news is great and it really feels like we're moving towards maybe the end of this?! I'm hoping that by July 2021 things will slowly resume and resemble some sort of normality. I'm cautiously optimistic that we could be on track.

Covid in Scotland: Level 4 restrictions 'could remain after 11 December'

I thought at the time that it was a massive mistake when Sturgeon said Level 4 would definitely be lifted. I didn't see how she could possibly take it off the table with any certainty.

Nicola Sturgeon confirms that all 11 local authorities currently in level four restrictions will move to level three from Friday.

That is City of Glasgow, Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire, East and West Dunbartonshire, North and South Lanarkshire, East and South Ayrshire, Stirling and West Lothian.

More information from today's briefing
  • All 11 areas living under Scotland's toughest level-four coronavirus restrictions are to be downgraded to level-three
  • It has also been confirmed that three level-three areas - Inverclyde, Falkirk and Angus - will move down to level-two
  • And both Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders will move to level-one from level-two
  • All of the country's other council areas will remain in their current level

There's the possibility that you can get the vaccine but still catch covid and pass it onto others.

I reckon people will think if they get the vaccine they can instantly stop wearing a mask.

A new report this weekend says two-thirds of council areas in England are experiencing a rise in positive cases.

Another report says London is highly likely to move into tier 3 after a sharp rise in infection rates - health officials are "deeply concerned"

Scotland should take note of what has happened in Wales and seemingly happening in England now as they come out of lockdown restrictions.

I really think relaxing the rules for 5 days over Christmas is going to see a massive rise in infections and deaths in January 2021.

MPs have been told that London will move into tier 3 on Wednesday. Parts of Essex and Hertfordshire will also move into the highest level of restrictions, with all pubs, bars and cafes forced to shut again. Those in Tier 3 are also banned from socialising indoors or outdoors except for with those in your support bubble.
