Animals/Insects You Are Afraid Of General Chat

What animals or insects do you have an irrational fear of?

Spiders. They are very important for the ecosystem. Have zero danger to anything except an insect.

Rats. Very shy creatures who don't have a sinister bone in their bodies. Didn't cause the black plaque, don't cause rabies. Despite their numbers, one of the least likely animals you will catch a disease from but still...

Wasps/hornets. Been stung twice now with no sign of allergies but they still freak me out. And don't get me started on those Asian hornets.

Spiders. In have a bit of an ambiguous relationship with them. I am definitely arachnophobic but have dealt with it by applying by natural fascination with nature and learning about them. So I can tolerate small ones. Dock spiders and tarantulas, though, are best watched from a safe distance.

Those are my two biggies, I think. There are some I keep a safe distance from (skunks around here) but I would not say I am scared, just showing respect for their firepower.

Wasps!! I absolutely hate them, they tormented me as a child and even as an adult they will come straight for me when I'm with other people and will follow me around.

I don't really like things that fly - birds or insects, they just freak me out.

Ticks and lyme and any other disease they carry.

But I guess that's not irrational.

Ticks are dirty creatures. I often pick off the dog, make my skin crawl

I dislike insects in general.. They don't call 'em creepy crawlies for no reason!

..but especially flying ones. I can't stand having things flying and buzzing around me.
