Massive Entertainment has announced that a third-person perspective, New Game+, and more features are coming to Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora this December.

Later this year, players across all platforms will be able to experience Ubisoft's 2023 first-person action game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora from an entirely new perspective.

Omar Bouali, Creative Director of Frontiers of Pandora, detailed the upcoming third-person update in a 2-minute trailer posted today on X.

The free update is set to launch on December 5, 2025, just ahead of the release of the next movie, Avatar: Fire and Ash, which hits cinemas on December 19.

In the trailer, Bouali reveals that the update introduces two of "the most requested features from the community," the first being, naturally, the ability to explore Pandora from a third-person perspective. Massive Entertainment is reworking animations and several core systems to ensure a smooth and seamless implementation of this change.

In addition to that, players who've already finished their journey will be able to start a fresh run with New Game+, carrying over all their items and abilities. This mode will also have a new skill tree and gear to unlock.

Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment have recently unveiled "From the Ashes," a new story expansion for the first-person shooter, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. This expansion is set to launch on December 19, coinciding with the premiere of James Cameron's upcoming film, Avatar: Fire and Ash.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft has announced a new DLC for their action game set in the world of the Na'vi. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes will take place shortly after the main story.

That's not all coming to the game soon; shortly before the DLC drops, a third-person mode will be added via a free update, which will also include New Game+ and various quality-of-life improvements.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes release date and more details

Ubisoft has announced that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – From the Ashes will launch on December 19, matching the release of Fire and Ash in cinemas. Players will take on the role of the Na'vi warrior So'lek in a revenge-driven story that explores Kinglor Forest and a new location.

In the words of Massive Entertainment's Creative Director Omar Bouali, the DLC "delivers a darker, more personal story, enhanced immersion via third-person gameplay, and intense new combat mechanics that deepen the emotional and tactical stakes."

If you're eager to explore the darker side of Pandora, there will be multiple ways to access From the Ashes. You'll need the base game to play, but the expansion will be available as a separate purchase, bundled with Frontiers of Pandora, or via the Ubisoft+ Premium membership.
