The post provides a clear outline of the Champions League knockout stage, but lacks context and analysis that would add value to the discussion.

He might score and silence me but Gabriel Jesus is never going to take up Aguero's mantle when he leaves. They'd be better off bringing on Mahrez for him as Real are a bit dodgy down their left.
Popped up with the winner on the night but I agree he isn't the guy to replace Aguero.

An excellent result for Lyon over the two legs. Juventus must have been considered one of the favourites for the whole tournament.

Bayern still looks like the best team left in the draw but anything can happen especially with the changed format.

Definitely one of the big favourites alright, though I fancy the sneaky little Atletico Madrid with the draw they've gotten. Could see this format suiting them. They may not be terribly flashy, but they're so hard to beat.

Barcelona and Bayern both qualify with ease, setting up a mouthwatering quarter-final on Friday.

I'd say Bayern are favourites but you can't ever rule out Messi

PSG are the first team into the semi-finals, beating Atalanta 2-1 scoring two goals in injury time.

That was a cruel finish. Great effort by Atalanta, I really wish they had held on.

Atalanta brought that on themselves second half, spent it fouling more often than not and looked less fit than PSG who were supposed to be hampered by no games. They were supposed to be a fearless attacking side.

Wow. Leipzig have dumped out Atletico and will be playing PSG in the semi-final.

Deserved win for Leipzig. Didn't see them scoring two with no Werner to rely on any more. Upamecano MOTM for me.

A great achievement for Nagelsmann. The possibility now of three German coaches in the final four.

Deserved win for RB Leipzig. Terrible result for Atletico considering they should have been the fitter side and Werner wasn't a factor to deal with tonight.

I think anyone reading this could have dealt with Costa tonight he was so sluggish but Upamecano is a classy defender who must be looked at closely by anyone needing a quality centre half.

*I'll update the bookie event once the other semi-finalists are known.

Costa is one of those players who only give 100% when they want too.

Leipzig deserved the win. Upamecano was fantastic, a colossus defensively and so composed on the ball.

In 2013/14 Atletico were actually a good watch and still had their defensive nous, energy and character but they also some attacking football added to this. They have changed a lot since then.

Be a new team in the final anyway at least.

If Bayern show up tonight they should have too much for Barcelona
