I welcome the wearing of masks, but feel it is far little too late.

Should of been put In place when the shops opened back up originally.

I still can't understand the logic of announcing this measure that reduces the risk of transmission and yet then not have it come into force for another 9 days - they did the exact same thing up here.

Another communications success here for our Governments

This Facebook meme sums it up perfectly.. ?

Requiring facemasks THREE months into a pandemic is like requiring condoms at the baby shower

No new deaths in Scotland means 7-day average has hit zero. Five new cases is good (and less than last Wednesday as well)

An interesting comparison for Scotland there. Also interesting to see Iain McWhirter comparing other countries to Scotland, he was supportive of the way the U.K. and Scottish governments handled the move into lockdown, IIRC.

I went to my local ASDA yesterday for the first time since masks became mandatory. Didn't see a single person (including staff) not wearing one, which I find enormously encouraging.

No deaths for a week and three days last week with no patients admitted to a hospital with suspected COVID. Brilliant news.

Wonder what we will see in the next couple of weeks following the easing of restrictions on pubs.

It will be interesting to see the latest Scottish Government modelling report. They appear to have been estimating a 28% reduction in active cases week on week for some time now. If that trend continues we'd be looking at 50 total cases (tested and estimated) by 4th September.

I would like to think if we can get close to that that Test & Protect would be very well placed to keep it there whilst allowing for gyms to open, sporting events, indoor events and public gatherings to then become viable, even if it means mask-wearing is required.

Well, two hair stylists working in the same salon tested positive in the USA. They serviced 139 clients. All the clients tested negative for the virus. The reason is that the two stylists insisted all clients wear a mask, and so did they. However, both their families tested positive, because at home they did not wear a mask (obviously, you wouldn't). The point the scientific community is trying to make is that wearing masks work, and they are using that salon to make their case.

It's not too late for countries to enforce wearing masks in public places, there is no reason to wait, IMO.

Meanwhile, 2 active cases in my province. Authorities are trying to determine how the second person contacted the virus a couple of days ago.

First haircut yesterday - Barber had a visor on. Disposable gown and hand sanitiser when you got in the chair. She sprayed the whole chair etc with Dettol between clients.

First pint today. Ark in Glasgow. Had to give name and email on entry. Half the tables removed and ordered via App. Tape on the floor for route to toilets and sanitizer stations at the bar. Surprised how quiet it was but I guess tomorrow and Sat will be the acid test.

Both situations weird but hardly a chore if it continues to see us back to some sort of normality.
