Only 12 new infections by NHS labs

That will drop the 7 day average to 23 (-11%). 14 or less tomorrow would bring it down to just 18.

Deaths will remain at 7.

So if they acted one week earlier they would have had fewer deaths than Italy and would have been middle of the pack really, which would have been a good result. I guess this is related to the discussion with New Zealand, they locked down very early, so maybe this is why their death total is so few compared to other countries of comparative size as much as their location helped them as well.

My province (Nova Scotia) is at 5 known active cases, and no new deaths (we had a total of 62 to date). The strange thing is that 62% of cumulative confirmed cases are female, and 38% male. I'd figure it should have been 50/50 plus or minus.

New Brunswick now has 29 active cases (up from 15 I posted earlier), that sucker sure does spread quickly.

12 deaths today, not unsurprising. Tuesday/Wednesday is usually the peak days. Hopefully decreases back again towards the end of the week.

It is becoming harder and harder to justify maintaining the tightest remaining restrictions in Europe when looking at those numbers. I've had no difficulty with our cautious approach to loosening restrictions thus far but agree we really need to begin to do so.

All I can say on this is that a lot of people I know in Glasgow were amazed at the dithering from UK Govt over the lockdown and the complete lack of action on the thousands travelling into Britain from Italy and Spain

Disappointed that the Scottish Government were not more assertive in calling for lockdown earlier. Suffice to say, it would have been ignored but that is not the point

First time I've seen something like that in print. Not sure where they're getting it from either (I know it's in USA, but the virus doesn't really get too bothered by international borders)

If large gatherings are restricted, and the government properly implements track and trace, there is no reason to be majorly worried over a 2nd wave in the UK.

You only have to see pictures of *some of* the recent protests, and people flocking to beaches and other tourist hotspots on hot sunny days to know that large gatherings are going to happen, whether restricted or not..

Did I correctly see a news headline last night that in England they are making face masks mandatory from Monday?

Face masks are mandatory on public transport from Monday. In order to make it enforceable legislation and bye-laws have to be updated.

The law was changed in respect to the social bubbles yesterday.

The face coverings on transport probably should have been brought in sooner. As far as I can tell, this is still not mandatory in Scotland or Ireland.

I think face coverings possibly should be made mandatory in supermarkets. I've started wearing one when I go, but most don't. It is pretty much impossible to stay 2m apart in the supermarket.
