First weekend of the season and VAR and the officials already making headlines.

The officials for last night's game between Manchester United and Wolves on Monday Night Football have been dropped for next weekend.

Referee Simon Hooper, video assistant ref Michael Sailsbury and assistant VAR Richard West have not been selected for a Premier League game in the second round of fixtures.

It comes after PGMOL and the officials were forced to apologise after not awarding Wolves a penalty late in the game at Old Trafford.

It was 100 percent a penalty, the referee has to, at least, go to screen.

Looks like the pre-season fears about Wolves could have been justified. Brighton are leading 4-0 at Molineaux after scoring 3 goals in 10 minutes at the start of the second half.

Impressive from Man City tonight. Foden was exceptional and Alvarez scored a good goal but it is very impressive how Kovacic was integrated so well in City's team. He plays with calm and more simple and has more confidence all-around.

Newcastle didn't really create enough but I think they will make the top 4 again this year.

Didn't see the earlier games but that is a good win for Tottenham over Man United in Ange Postecoglou's first home match. Not been as an impressive start by Man United.

Kovacic will be such a key player for City in the coming months with De Bruyne injured. Gvardiol also looks class but my feeling is that City need at least two more new signings to freshen the things up.
