About

In Far Cry 6, players are immersed in the adrenaline-filled, chaotic world of a modern-day guerrilla revolution. Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Become a guerrilla fighter and burn their regime to the ground.

Far Cry 6

As Dani Rojas (playable as a female or male character), you will help stoke the fires of revolution through guerrilla warfare across the island of Yara, from verdant jungles to the urban streets of the capital city, Esperanza. You'll use a powerful array of weapons and vehicles, and build a network of allies to fight alongside you, including Fangs for Hire like Chorizo, the dangerously distracting wiener dog. As President Castillo prepares his son Diego, played by Anthony Gonzalez ("Coco"), to succeed him, you will do all you can to ensure his plans don't come to fruition.

Key Features
  • Ignite the Fight for Freedom – Dive into a blockbuster experience as Dani Rojas, a local Yaran defending their country from a tyrant's rule. Join the revolution to push back against the oppressive regime of dictator Anton Castillo and his teenage son Diego, brought to life by Hollywood stars Giancarlo Esposito (The Mandalorian, Breaking Bad) and Anthony Gonzalez (Coco).
  • Yara Torn Apart – For the first time in Far Cry, experience a sprawling capital city: Esperanza, the most expansive Far Cry playground to date. Take down Anton in the seat of his power by staying hidden or engaging Anton's army in an all-out firefight in the streets. From taking the reins of a horse to commandeering a tank, choose your favourite ride to fight against the regime or to just travel Yara in style.
  • Become a Guerrilla – Jump into the action and chaos of guerrilla combat at the heart of a revolution. Employ an arsenal of unique and surprising new weapons, vehicles, and animal companions in a fight against an unyielding military regime. No guerrilla should go it alone, so pair up with an all-new animal companion like Chorizo, the adorable wiener dog who's as cute as he is lethal.

Stunning location and I'm still only on the first island. The map looks huge. The acting is good. Picked male Dani and so far voice acting is pretty solid. Like the little bits like singing or whistling along to songs, but the music is starting to grate, hopefully, more variations will be available once I'm on the main island.

To be honest, it's not doing anything new, but this feels the most solid so far. I'll stick with it for a while at least.

Game is absolutely gorgeous and Fem Dani is a badass. Only on the first Island bit really like what I'm playing so far. Goddam though, is 2021, why can't you pause the cutscenes?

Also, highly recommend turning on the option to highlight loot. The graphics are so good, somethings don't really stand out. Now it's easy to scan an area and quickly loot without too much immersion breaking.

I might enable that myself, as it is I have to be relatively near something for the little o to pop up above something I can loot, and even then I nearly need to be standing on top of the thing to pick it up, often having to crouch to pick stuff up off the ground. An auto pickup, like the ammo, would have been better. Crapped myself earlier when I learned that O turns your horse around 180, wasn't expecting it and thought I was being thrown off.

On the main Island but won't get to play it for a while again. It seems to have the right level of fun right now, something which I think a lot of people overlook in a game. It's still Far Cry, but it's possibly the most polished so far. Did a mission on the first Island where you burn tobacco plants. Not half as fun as the Kicking the Hornets Nest from 3, but at least Dani referenced it!

Yeah Dani singing to the radio is one of the best things in the game

Agreed, the character singing to the radio is one thing I'd love more open world games to have. Adds a bit of fun

Those who want to delve deeper into the Caribbean Island of Yara and its story will be pleased, as Far Cry 6's upcoming DLC Vaas: Insanity is out starting November 16 — letting players take control of the iconic Far Cry 3 villain as voiced by Michael Mando!

Here's the overview of the DLC adventure as seen in the press release.

Players will embody Vaas, the iconic villain from Far Cry® 3 played by Michael Mando (Better Call Saul), who is reprising his role in a brand-new experience inspired by the roguelite genre. Starting with nothing more than a pistol to defend themselves, players will need to find new weapons and unlock power-ups to become stronger and progress deeper into the depths of Vaas' psyche. Blending intense action and storytelling, Vaas: Insanity will provide a unique opportunity to better understand Vaas' past, personal demons and motivations.

The DLC is billed as a rogue-lite, interestingly enough, in which you will "start with nothing more than a pistol to defend yourself," per Ubisoft. "Players will need to find new weapons and unlock power-ups to become stronger and progress deeper into the depths of Vaas' psyche."

The remaining DLC instalments, Episode 2: "Pagan: Control" and Episode 3: "Joseph: Collapse" are planned for release in January 2022 and March 2022, respectively. Each DLC strives to provide the opportunity to better understand each villain's past, personal demons, and motivations. The three DLC episodes are playable solo or in co-op with a friend, even if they do not own the game.

So if you were particularly into any of the games, this will be a good opportunity to circle back to your favourite villain and learn a little bit more about their undoubtedly unhinged worldview.
