Football Legend Kevin Keegan Has Died Soccer

Former England captain and manager Kevin Keegan has died at the age of 75, seven weeks after he revealed he had been diagnosed with stage four cancer.

A statement from his family read

"It is with immense sadness that we announce that Kevin Keegan has passed away at the age of 75.

"Kevin had been battling cancer and was surrounded by his wife and daughters in his final moments.

"A double Ballon D'or winner, Kevin was a much loved husband, father and grandfather.

"The family would like to thank Kevin's incredible medical team for all their support.

"This is a hugely difficult time and they are requesting space and privacy."

Sad to hear this. Great player and manager. His teams were exciting at Newcastle. Loved that period of football and the rivalry with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Very sad news. As a football-mad kid growing up in the 70s, Kevin Keegan was THE name in English football in an era when there were a lot of star names. A genuine legend and, by all accounts, a more than decent man.

Such a lovely man, an exceptionally talented footballer and passionate manager. His Newcastle United team 1993-1997, especially 1995-1996, were brilliant, and I loved watching their games. The entertainers!

A great player and a manager who wore his heart on his sleeve.

He took a huge gamble by leaving Liverpool to join Hamburg.

One of only 10 players to win multiple Ballon d'Ors. When he won his 2nd, that put him level with Di Stefano and Beckenbauer and behind only Cruyff.
