Oh, that is very interesting and good to see. I am sure the FIA will be delighted. They will make money from them joining, won't they? I wonder who will supply their engines? Renault should try and get in there.

The FIA doesn't make the money. They use it to spread amongst the existing teams. The existing teams budget long term on the prize money divided amongst 10 teams. Adding in a new team takes from that prize fund and messes with their budget. So they take $200m and spread that amongst the 10 existing teams so they can maintain the budget they planned for and transition to the 11 team grid.

That's the idea anyway.
