May as well start a dedicated thread. Trailer landing on December 5 - 2pm in the UK.

Will update the thread details when they arrive...

Didn't they do something similar with Red Dead Redemption 2? I remember there being a backlash from players.
I agree. Not being able to hold all your weapons will be very annoying. Did they not see all the comments from RDR 2.

Will GTA VI require Age Verification?

First of all, and for clarity, nothing has been confirmed - or even proposed - on the developer's end, but Tez2, who has a track record of reliability when it comes to delivering Rockstar games info, posted on Twitter that the implementation of age-related checks are being planned, specifically when it comes to accessing certain GTA Online content.

If true, it might mean access to features like phone messages, chat, and even Snapmatic would be restricted or - in the worst-case scenario - GTA Online could be walled off entirely until you complete such verification steps.

This comes just a few days after Xbox started asking users in the UK to verify their age, in order to continue using a number of social features on the platform past early 2026, when restrictions will start rolling out for those who refuse to (or are simply underage).

The steps taken by both Xbox and Rockstar appear to have come following the implementation of the UK's Online Safety Act, which is designed to prevent minors from viewing harmful or adult content.

But despite being worked on for a number of years, it's come under fire from individuals and organizations who are concerned it could be the first step down the road towards governmental overreach and censorship.

Rockstar has confirmed the long-awaited release date - and yes, it's a bit further out than expected.

In a statement, they said:

"We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realise has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve."

GTA VI is now set to release on November 19 2026

Can't say I'm surprised. I think it may be 2027 before we see it.

A verified employee has come forward to say the delay is definitely related to their union busting (details in the links above) and the sacked staff members were integral to development. Kind of hope it flops now.

Unsurprising. Wouldn't be surprised to see more delays. They're probably hoping for a release closer to the new generation of game consoles so they can milk it for two generations like they did with the previous game.

Rockstar Games has been scum for years. People still lap them up though.

GTA VI is shaping up to be an absolute titan in the gaming world, with estimates suggesting that Take-Two Interactive has already poured between $1 billion and $1.5 billion into its development. That's a staggering figure that could potentially make it the most expensive video game ever created!

This insight comes from an interview with Take-Two's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, who candidly described the game's budget as "expensive." It's fascinating to consider just how much effort, talent, and innovation go into a project of this scale.

There are a few reasons behind this colossal investment:
  • The expansive open world: GTA games are known for their detailed environments and immersive worlds.
  • High-quality graphics and technology: With advancements in gaming tech, the demand for top-notch visuals has skyrocketed.
  • Voice acting and music: The series is famous for its stellar voice cast and rich soundtracks, adding to the overall costs.
  • Marketing and promotion: As one of the biggest franchises in gaming, the marketing budget is also likely substantial.
Zelnick's comments highlight the broader trend in the gaming industry, where blockbuster titles are increasingly requiring higher investments. It raises an interesting question: as gamers, do we think this trend is sustainable in the long run?

Of course, high production and development costs could lead to a higher price tag and in-game purchases - how much would you be willing to pay for Grand Theft Auto VI?

I wouldn't pay more than £60 for any game, including GTA 6

It seems the excitement surrounding GTA 6 pre-orders has taken a bit of a nosedive! Many fans were buzzing with anticipation that today would be the day they could finally place their pre-orders, but alas, it looks like those hopes may have been misplaced.

Just last week, there was a flurry of speculation when reports suggested that Best Buy had leaked a pre-order date for the much-anticipated game. During a livestream, YouTuber Frogboyx1gaming sparked a lot of chatter, leading many to believe that we were on the verge of some big news. The energy was palpable, and it seemed like everyone was ready to dive in and secure their copy.

However, as today rolled around, it became clear that those reports were likely not accurate. The promised pre-orders haven't materialised, leaving many fans feeling a bit let down. It's not unusual for the gaming community to experience a rollercoaster of emotions, especially when it comes to something as monumental as a new GTA release.

Take-Two's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 is still on track for its announced release date of November 19, 2026. This news comes ahead of the company's financial results for fiscal year 2026 and has effectively put an end to any lingering concerns about potential delays.

Zelnick reassured fans that the development team is focused and working diligently to ensure that the game meets its scheduled release. He mentioned that they've consistently communicated the timeline and are committed to delivering a product that lives up to the high expectations of the series. With the immense popularity of the GTA franchise, it's no surprise that anticipation is building.

The confirmation from Take-Two should provide some relief to gamers who have been anxiously awaiting updates.
