8/10 Mixed views

The post offers a good overview of the Halo Infinite presentation, providing essential details about gameplay and release platforms. However, a bit more depth on specific features or personal insights would enhance its value.

Halo Infinite gameplay presentation release date multiplayer beta third-person mode

The first discussions centered around the anticipation for Halo Infinite, sparked by a gameplay presentation that showcased what the game might offer. However, there were mixed feelings regarding the visuals and the announcement of its delay, causing some concern about the game's development and future expectations.12

As more details emerged, including the confirmed release date and features like the battle pass system, excitement began to build again. Players expressed their views on the multiplayer aspect, with emphasis on the game's potential to integrate classic Halo elements.34

Post-launch, user experiences varied greatly. While some players found the game excellent and engaging, particularly praising gameplay mechanics like the grapple hook, others raised concerns about the absence of co-op matchmaking and the introduction of a third-person mode, indicating a significant departure from traditional gameplay.56

"...it was well done. I've only gotten as far as liberating the first FOB..."

"...the new mode will not feature any online matchmaking..."

Verdict

The thread reflects a shift from initial skepticism to enthusiasm post-launch, though concerns about gameplay mechanics persist. Overall, players are eager yet cautious about Halo Infinite's evolving nature.

Microsoft and 343 have finally shown us what Halo Infinite looks like in a new, ten minute gameplay presentation.

Microsoft has something to prove next-gen and Halo Infinite could be the game to showcase what Xbox is capable of. Check it out in the gameplay video below:

The trailer takes place over 160 days after humanity lost the war. We see Master Chief crashland on a Halo ring with the pilot we saw in the initial reveal trailer. He's having a bad day and he's not very happy with the Chief, who wants to stop the Banished. You can wishlist it now, since Halo Infinite just got a Steam store page.

Rumours earlier this week suggested Halo Infinite would feature grappling hooks, sprinting, and other power-ups. The new trailer, which shows a more open Halo, confirms those rumours.

Halo Infinite is releasing for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Xbox One X, Xbox One S, and PC this holiday.

Looks good but Halo is a gaming franchise I've never really got in to.

Halo Infinite didn't look too good to me but I've since read that the build previewed was from very early in development so it should be more polished the next time we see footage.

Halo Infinite has been delayed. The highly anticipated Xbox and PC game was originally set to launch alongside the Xbox Series X during the holiday season this year, but the release date has been pushed back to 2021.

"Today I want to share an important Halo Infinite development update with the community. We have made the difficult decision to shift our release to 2021 to ensure the team has adequate time to deliver a Halo game experience that meets our vision," reads a statement on the 343 Industries Twitter.

"The decision to shift our release is the result of multiple factors that have contributed to development challenges, including the ongoing COVID-related impacts affecting us all this year. I want to acknowledge the hard work from our team at 343 Industries, who have remained committed to making a great game and finding solutions to development challenges. However, it is not sustainable for the well-being of our team or the overall success of the game to ship it this holiday.

"We know this will be disappointing to many of you and we all share in that sentiment. The passion and support the community has shown over the years has been incredible and inspiring. We wanted nothing more than to play our game with the community this holiday. The extra time will let us finish the critical work necessary to deliver the most ambitious Halo game ever at the quality we know our fans expect. Thank you for your support and understanding."

Play Halo Infinite day one with Xbox Game Pass. Coming Holiday 2021 to the Xbox One family of consoles, Xbox Series X, and Windows 10

Microsoft has officially announced the worldwide release date for Halo Infinite. Following a Microsoft Store leak, the company has now confirmed that Halo Infinite will be available December 8 on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Halo Infinite will launch on Xbox Game Pass for PC and Xbox platforms. The PC version will also be available for purchase on Steam and Microsoft's own Windows store.

"We're thankful that so many of you have joined us on this journey," says a note from 343 Industries. "Whether you just peeked your head into Halo Waypoint to take a look, or you're a full-fledged Halo Insider that helped us test Halo Infinite during the technical preview, we couldn't be more humbled. That's why today we're thrilled to announce that Halo Infinite will release on December 8, 2021 for Xbox and PC".

As previously announced, campaign co-op as well as map creator Forge will be missing at launch. You will be able to play the game's campaign solo. Campaign co-op is set to arrive in Season 2 - some three months after launch, whereas Forge will hit about six months after launch.

Multiplayer, however, will be there on day one, and is free-to-play on all platforms. Between now and launch, you can expect other opportunities to play Infinite multiplayer. The next technical preview, for instance, will feature 4v4 and Big Team Battle.

343 Industries has dropped a new trailer showing off the campaign in Halo Infinite

Just got around to watching this. I find it kind of annoying that Microsoft try to big up Master Chief as some kind of iconic videogame character and I just see him as another dull space marine, probably by design as well so the player can transplant themselves into the character.

Moaning aside, it kind of looks great. I mean open world Halo sounds like a lot of fun if they manage to nail the combat. The grappling hook looks like a blast to use as well.

343 Industries has revealed more details about the battle pass system for Halo Infinite along with the price.

While we know they will never expire and the first one will arrive alongside the game's release next month, this is the first time the studio has offered up information on pricing.

Speaking with IGN, the studio divulged the pass will cost you $10 and since there are no loot boxes, you will always know exactly what you're getting.

Again, battle passes never expire, but you can only have one active at a time. That said, you can change which one is active at any given time. Almost every quarter of the battle pass will have a legendary cosmetic and these will either be canon-related or a new type of customization object with special attributes or effects, and event rewards will be separate.

The first battle pass will be centred around Halo: Reach and is called Heroes of Reach, as was announced back in June. The first armour core will feature Reach customization options, other rewards include Death Effects and armour kits. What will not be included in this or any other battle pass though are "uncharacteristic emotes" like Master Chief flossing or something else along those lines.

New customization options can also be earned outside the battle pass through the campaign and by completing all weekly challenges which those who played in the Halo Infinite test flight can attest. Events will also provide additional options, and each event will have its own free event pass. The pass is a timed reward system in multiplayer but it will not include a paid track.

How it works, is you will get a special playlist and a new reward track for each event. That's two weeks for an event and one week for the Fracture, but the Fracture comes back every month and it saves your progress. 343 said it will monitor progression through events and may even do more test flighting to see what players are responding to in terms of rewards or progress.

Speaking of the Fracture event, this recurring event is where the more unique cosmetics will come into play such as the Yoroi samurai armour. This event allows the player in multiplayer to look non-cannon and have a bit of fun as they are not actually playing as Master Chief. That said, the armour will still make a bit of sense within the Halo universe, so don't expect polka dots or something equally as silly.

According to 343, the battle pass system is "just a small part of the overall ecosystem for a season," and the plan is to take the structure of a battle pass and layer it with the event structure. The goal is for players to feel rewarded each time they engage in an activity and the battle pass "sits above all of that."
