This rebuilding will take time. Forget next season, forget the following season. BTW Messi is 35 then. This could easily take 5+ years.

Koeman is clearly a transitional figure but there can't be any other way. Someone needs to take a bullet during this highly painful time until the soil is fertile for the next steps.

You're right. Xavi might not take to management at all. We can't know for sure. I think Koeman deserves respect from the club. He has an immortal place in its history. It would be a shame if he was scapegoated for what will in all likelihood be a challenging and disappointing season next year.

Yes, Koeman is a transitional figure. He's there to take the heat for pushing out the heroes of 5 years ago. After those players are pushed out, the way will be clear for the next manager to build a younger squad that can win like Barcelona expects to win.

Barca's problems at the moment seem unmanageable.

Firing Setien was a small but necessary step. Abidal, after his spat with Messi earlier last season, was understandable.

They would do everything to convince Messi to stay. I do think Bartomeu has to go earlier than the supposed elections for the club to REALLY start fresh.

With all the remaining contracts and egos in the squad, it's hard to have a positive outlook in the upcoming season. Such a shameful fall from grace.
