I was thinking of purchasing a metal detector as I live in an area with some history, with a lot of empty land around me. I figured it would be a fun outdoor hobby I could do on occasion and involve the kids. It seems like sort of going on a treasure hunt, and I thought the kids would enjoy it. Plus, there could be teaching opportunities in it.
So, if you know anything about it, is there a detector you would recommend? Seems there are many, some pretty cheap. I assume the better the detector, the better your ability to search. However, I've never done it before. Does anybody have any tips, recommendations, or anything?
