Blue cards will be introduced in football for sin-bins. 🟦

A player will receive a blue card for cynical fouls or dissent and he will be removed from the pitch for 10 minutes. āŒ

Absolute idiocy. So is it a yellow? What happens if you get a blue and a yellow? Or two blues? Can a "cynical foul" be a yellow and a blue?

Just implement any of the current rules consistently without giving the officials another way to get it wrong

Sin-bins in football won't work unless you also stop the clock when the ball isn't in play and make the games 60 mins. Otherwise teams will just time waste their way out of it.

Giving refs more decisions to make and widening the grey area is a disaster in the making. They should be focused on using the technology that they already have to make quicker, more accurate decisions on the pitch.

Former referee Dermot Gallagher isn't a fan.

Blue cards are not for me. We've got what we've got. When they experiment with it I think this idea will go away very quickly. Every person I've spoken to doesn't think it is a good idea. Howard Webb will watch and see what happens but I don't see it coming to the Premier League.

Hopefully, they see sense and don't introduce it

Thankfully, FIFA president Gianni Infantino has confirmed the proposed blue cards with sin bins in elite football will not go ahead.

"No chance. No way for blue cards at elite level. This won't happen - our position is very clear about that."

Seems like we may still see sin bins....

Football's lawmakers are expected to scrap plans for blue cards as part of trials for a new sin-bin system.

The blue cards were set to form part of a trial involving sin bins, with the aim being to give greater protection to referees.

Although blue cards are unlikely to be implemented, sin bins are due to be given the green light when the International Football Association Board (IFAB) and FIFA meet on Saturday at Cameron House in Scotland for IFAB's Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Discussions over the introduction of sin bins will centre on dissent towards the referee and anti-football actions.
