Resident Evil 2 (Remake)
The genre-defining masterpiece Resident Evil 2 returns, completely rebuilt from the ground up for a deeper narrative experience. Using Capcom's proprietary RE Engine, Resident Evil 2 offers a fresh take on the classic survival horror saga with breathtakingly realistic visuals, heart-pounding immersive audio, a new over-the-shoulder camera, and modernized controls on top of gameplay modes from the original game.

In Resident Evil 2, the classic action, tense exploration, and puzzle-solving gameplay that defined the Resident Evil series returns. Players join rookie police officer Leon Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield, who are thrust together by a disastrous outbreak in Raccoon City that transformed its population into deadly zombies. Both Leon and Claire have their own separate playable campaigns, allowing players to see the story from both characters' perspectives. The fate of these two fan-favourite characters is in player's hands as they work together to survive and get to the bottom of what is behind the terrifying attack on the city. Will they make it out alive?

In a surprising move, Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 2 Remake will appear on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac in 2024. Pre-registrations are open, and it should come out on December 31, 2024.

You'll be able to play on all iPhones newer than the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16. If your iPad or Mac has an M1 chip (or newer), you'll be able to play it too. Since it'll be on your Apple ID account, you'll be able to play it on all devices. If you're not sure about playing it on your iPhone or iPad, the beginning segment of the game will be available for free to test out.

When playing on the iPhone or iPad, you'll use touch controls on the screen to control Leon, Claire, Ada, or Sherry. You can connect your Bluetooth controller as well, if you have one. For those who find it difficult to play on the touch screen, there are options to turn on automatic shooting.

Resident Evil 2 Remake is set to receive an exciting new arcade version, which will debut in select locations across Japan and Europe later this year. This initiative seems to stem from the game's impressive reception, breathing new life into a classic horror experience.

In this arcade iteration, players can expect enhanced sensory features such as haptic feedback in the guns, a shaking floor to simulate in-game tremors, and even a mist-spraying machine that adds to the atmosphere at key moments. Additionally, some cutscenes and enemy types have been altered, providing a fresh twist for veteran players while keeping newcomers engaged.

For those unfamiliar with the game, this is a perfect opportunity to dive into the origins of Leon and Claire's harrowing adventure in Raccoon City. The arcade version promises to enhance the visceral experience that the remake offered on consoles.

The initial rollout will include a test phase at select venues before a broader launch, so keep an eye out for updates. Until then, you can enjoy the original game available on multiple platforms, including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
