One of the best Netflix series ever imho.

Amazing. Would love it if they make a good go of season 2 but it will be tough to achieve anything like this success.

Binged it yesterday and my own thoughts on links between characters and such were well borne out.

It is a solid well made show, but it is quite formulaic. If I had to give a quick synopsis? It's the hunger games crossed with bum fights for the entertainment of the rich rather than governments and an added focus albeit belatedly on survivor guilt.

I'll certainly watch a season 2 and hope that it ties up what I feel are big loose ends.

Finished it last night, I enjoyed it but equally didn't think it was that good that it deserved all the media hype. It being Netflix's most watched show ever is probably a function of them attracting more and more subscribers rather than Squidgame being essential watching tv.

As others said the VIPs really lowered the tone. Might have been better if they showed people all over the world betting on the characters rather than just this bunch of wealthy people. Their animal masks did remind me of the Wicker Man though so maybe a nod to that by the director.

I also wish they had fleshed out the harvesting of organs more, I thought they missed a good trick there because in real life China there is a trade from poor people to rich for their organs. They could have made a good subplot out of that.

Decent overall but not great but I will watch the sequel whenever it arrives

On the organ harvesting, I felt it was included to show that the guards were poor/desperate as well as the contestants. It kind of distinguished them from being the unquestioning henchmen that you would have assumed them to be.

Enjoyed apart from the VIP segments which were brutal to watch.

Interesting none of them were Korean, all seemed to be American and one Eastern European/Russian.

Squid Game has been renewed for season 2 at Netflix for a 2023 premiere.

I still haven't watched this. Not really sure it is something I'd enjoy.
