Wouldn't wish ill on anyone so I hope he makes a full recovery.

Could this benefit Trump's re-election campaign? Will the nation now rally behind their sick president?

Boris Johnson got a boost in popularity when he almost died.

It's hard to know - a "rally round" lift in popularity is one thing.

More people voting for you in an election that takes place in 30 days or so is maybe a bit different.

If he sits out the isolation period with no major health impact, I don't think it will make a whole lot of difference in terms of voter preference.

If he actually gets properly sick -Who knows?

Do people back away from voting for him over concerns about the health impacts post recovery or even due to the potential worst-case scenario where he doesn't survive?

If he were to get properly ill and was to be in the hospital on Election day - Who knows how that might impact things?

It's really impossible to tell - There are so many potential ways this could go depending on what actually happens in terms of his health.

Let's hope that to avoid all those scenarios that he just sits out the isolation tweeting away with no health impacts and is back on the Stump in a few weeks.

And then this whopper, really what planet are they from? o_O

It had to happen, the Democrats are now being blamed for giving it to him in some quarters.

This narrative will probably catch on now with some groups. Probably the same groups who claim it's a hoax anyway.

I'm just going to say what we're all thinking. Trump was fine until the debate, where they set up microphones & podiums for him. Incubation period is usually 2-3 days. He tests positive a couple of days after the debate. I put nothing past the left. NOTHING.

That has to be the most batshit crazy thing that anyone has said so far this month. But the month has only just begun, so I'm confident there will loads of even crazier shit to come.

Been taken to hospital apparently.

The White House said the decision to transport him to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center was taken "out of an abundance of caution".

It's astonishing that he has been given drugs that are still in trial phase and unlicensed. Apparently, just 276 patients have had this same treatment.

This is the president of the United States, they aren't even allowed to eat anything not cooked by a permanent chef under the watch of the secret service.

The fact he is being given experimental drugs is not a decision that would have been taken lightly but shows a degree of desperation

Regarding being treated with Remdesivir, here are some comments from leading doctors in the US. Vinay Prasad is probably the world's expert on science-based medicine and is a strong advocate for randomized control trials for all medications, plus a very sharp critic of the US healthcare system and pharmaceutical companies:

"It is bad science, bad medicine and bad ethics to give unproven things to powerful people that you don't give to average people," added Vinay Prasad, an associate professor of Medicine at the University of California San Francisco."

There is something about this whole covid story that doesn't sit right.

I'm not saying he hasn't tested positive but I just don't think they are telling the whole truth either - it looks staged with mixed and conflicting stories to me.

If Trump recovers and somehow manages to show a bit of humility up to election day, would it give his re-election chances enough of a boost to swing the election? If he comes out saying that he now empathizes with all those who have got or had the virus. Starts wearing a mask and gets his entourage to wear masks etc
