If Trump recovers and somehow manages to show a bit of humility up to election day, would it give his re-election chances enough of a boost to swing the election? If he comes out saying that he now empathizes with all those who have got or had the virus. Starts wearing a mask and gets his entourage to wear masks etc
And pigs will fly. I mean why change the habit of a lifetime of having no empathy whatsoever and downplaying this virus and if the reports are true they didn't want to tell people that a very close aide to the president was positive with covid until the press broke the story. We also have the doctor to the president doing mental gymnastics not to reveal info about the President's condition when asked basic questions. All we get is this positive, vague soup when down is up and up is down and people are more confused then they were beforehand.

So to be clear none of that will happen because he doesn't have the capacity to do what you suggest he'll do.

To do that he would have to admit that he was wrong all along and Biden was right, Trump doesn't like to show that kind of weakness.

Doctor says he could be back in the White House as early as tomorrow

Big piece of information from the briefing was that Trump has been placed on the steroid Dexamethasone - this is recommended for use by the WHO for the treatment of COVID-19 patients who are critically ill.

So does Donald Trump really have the virus and is behaving like a complete arse or is the whole thing a stunt?
Would any decent human being put their fellows at risk of contracting a serious illness to go out in a car to wave at a crowd?
Would any responsible government agency sanction putting employees in danger for a photo op?

I'm beginning to think he's trying for the sympathy vote and the whole thing is a stunt. I can't believe any adult would behave that irresponsibly in front of the world press or that any responsible government or medical facility would allow it.

What is wrong with these people?

It is like a parody sitcom show, every day there is something more bewildering that grabs the headlines.

Trump's reckless disregard for the lives and health of others is horrifying, but not the least bit surprising. I've highlighted parts of the tweet from Dr James Phillips, who is chief of disaster medicine at George Washington University and an attending physician at Walter Reed Medical Center.

"That Presidential SUV is not only bulletproof, but hermetically sealed against chemical attack. The risk of COVID19 transmission inside is as high as it gets outside of medical procedures. The irresponsibility is astounding. My thoughts are with the Secret Service forced to play."

Kayleigh McEnany, the White House Press Secretary, has tested positive for Covid-19. Will need a new spinmeister for the pressers (if they still have them)

Tom

Trump has said he will leave hospital later on Monday, three days after being admitted with Covid-19.

Doctors say he "may not be entirely out of the woods yet" but is safe to go home.

What a miraculous recovery, who on earth could have predicted this?!!!

His actions this morning just show why he deserves little sympathy.

The man is a disgrace and is morally unfit for the presidency. He's a narcissist and now he's undermining the global effort against Covid by saying no one should be afraid of it despite there being 210,000 deaths (and counting) in the USA along. He's actually contributing to more cases with his blasé approach. He is a liability for America and the rest of the world.

This sums up the past few days perfectly

I'm still amazed that medically they've allowed him to just leave the hospital when still apparently COVID positive. That and his insane delivery back to the White House and the ripping off the mask before going back in to see folks could possibly be the most reckless thing to have happened. Surely the message should have been to keep him isolated until he was COVID negative - seems nuts that a 'hospital' would let him leave like that when they know he's just going to mix again.

As much as I don't really like Good Morning Britain in the morning, the wife has it on and there was some GOP mouthpiece on saying Trump was fine and did nothing wrong, even when Piers Morgan pointed out that Boris Johnson was reasonably ok till day 9 he seemed to think there was nothing to worry about. Just for the fact that he's been so absolutely reckless and dangerous when infected then I think it would be fitting if he ended up having to go back into hospital and destroying any hopes he had of getting re-elected.
